Quoting: x_wingWorking with Mesa doesn't mean working with NVIDIA proprietary drivers though :)NVIDIA will also be supporting "Resizable BAR" with the 30xx series, an advanced feature of PCI Express that can increase performance in games. It's not clear if this will work on Linux though. The feature is already working on Linux (upcoming Mesa 21 already has the patches to make use of it on AMD GPUs). AFAIK, It's 100% up to them to make use of the feature on their Linux driver.

Quoting: GuestNew GPUs :), more mid range likely.Quoting: TobyGornowMaybe I'm mistaken but aren't the 6800 series already based on RDNA 2 ?Yes they are. I’m confused too.

Quoting: scaineHopefully they've added some kind of meaningful tutorial now, cos it's otherwise completely baffling. I never even got the editor parts where you somehow evolve into new form, with new abilities. Just a constant cycle of "eat wrong thing, start to die quite quickly"!There is a basic tutorial now to get you started but they're still evolving the gameplay currently.

Quoting: GuestEdit: What's about the Beta driver: 460.27.04 which is the one I ran the last weeks before the latest release driver where they affected by this too?The versions listed in the article are what NVIDIA say are safe.

Quoting: bubexelLiam start a crowdfounding or something to get a VR set. I'm really interested to see some news and report about Linux VR. You will have my bucks. We already have one [External Link]. Plenty of other ways to support us here. Setting up a dedicated one isn't really feasible for many reasons. Besides, wrong article I guess for this comment?

Quoting: fleskYup, and I'm British and I write using that way often because it's what's normal to me. I have, however, adjusted a few bits to hopefully make it even clearer.Quoting: chrisq"they"? Isn't ethan Lee a single person?Singular "they" is a very common and gender neutral way to refer to a person:

Quoting: hardpenguinIt was meant as an example, not the cause.Quoting: GamingOnLinuxA shame but actually somewhat common. We see this with racing games, football games, sometimes music causes issues and more where licenses are often for a specific time period. In this case it's a bit more unique that it only affected the external ports.I mean they haven't said they meant music licenses. Could be literally anything. For example, perhaps the porting studio issues a license to the game publisher for some part of their work. Or it could be some other part of the game, like middleware.
