Quoting: robvvThe Linux builds don't seem to show up on the itch client for me. However I can download them fine from the homepage.
Yeah looks like the itch content tags need updating properly.

Atari VCS games really are just plain Linux desktop builds

Quoting: soulsourceNot surprising.
The Xbox One is just a desktop Windows machine with a fancy console interface and mandatory cryptographic signatures for all executables. The PS4 is just a regular BSD with a fancy console interface and similar restrictions. Why should the Atari VCS be much different?
The point is it's another piece of hardware out there, that is super close to Linux and developers can easily bring games to / from it for Linux. It's just interesting information that plenty of people likely aren't aware of. Just because you might understand, doesn't mean others will.

Quoting: gojulIt's clear that Feral has dropped the ball. Their radar looks empty. Too bad. Without Proton Linux gaming would be almost dead by now.
I sorta wonder if that is partially due to valve's embrace and extension of wine into the steam platform.
I don't think it's just partially. Feral don't get any money when people buy a game to play with Proton before they've released a port, so it's just not worth it for them anymore. They have a lot of cost up front (salaries etc.), so they have to be smart about which games to port, and it doesn't make sense to target Linux for less profits than ever. Feral didn't drop the ball, Valve did.
I don't think it's just that though. Feral have expanded into mobile and switch, both way bigger markets. They also only joined in on Linux due to SteamOS / Steam Machines which failed. We've finally seen the tail end of that now I think. Still, they did some really good work and enabled us to play a lot of what we couldn't for years and they helped push a lot of things in the background :)

Quoting: 1xokWith CK3 as the only AAA title, if you want to adopt this classification.

Linux games are often indie games. Such indie titles always have something that the so-called AAA productions often don't offer or have simply lost: Originality. Many AAAs once started out as indie game. Take GTA, for example.

Nevertheless, it has to be said that without Proton, Linux gaming would have a very hard time. It is often not only about AAAs, but also simply about games like Among US. Which brings us back to indies. Even there, not everything is released for Linux.
Sure, but it would be nice if the comments didn't descend into the usual arguments on this and people just talk about what they enjoyed across 2020 :)
