Stadia gets Elder Scrolls Online on June 16, 1440p in web and more

Quoting: LinuxwarperIs there a single game on Stadia, that can be played locally, that supports Linux? No (?).
Well no, you don't play them locally, it's game streaming.

If you mean does it have games, that also have Linux desktop support on other stores, yes it does including: Jotun, Sundered, the SteamWorld series, soon to be Metro Exodus, we've seen hints of GRID coming too. That is entirely besides the point though, it's a different platform, that works on Linux. It's an additional / different way to play. Still, nice it uses Vulkan and Linux though behind the scenes.

Quoting: LinuxwarperMore on topic; 1440 isn't what was promised.
You're right, it wasn't, so it's actually a nice addition. They only originally said 720p, 1080p and 4K. Now they're expanding on from that.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleWhat's amusing here is that there are in the vicinity of about 800000 to 900000 Linux Gamers on Steam, and only about 12000 Stadia users, yet studios/publishers are more willing to throw money at those 12000 than to the hundreds of thousands of the rest of us.
Where did you get that number? Sounds like you're making it up, I know for a fact there's more than 12K people on Stadia. Destiny 2 alone saw over 30K players online at once back in April in it. Not blindly sticking up for it at all, just a note that spreading false info helps no one.

Quoting: PatolaThey're not expanding to other countries yet?
I fully expect that has been delayed due to Coronavirus. I still expect a few more before the year is up.

Quoting: GuestEdit: oh wait, I read "distributed" and I thought this was peer-to-peer, but it seems to require their "cloud" servers… not that great.
You don't need their servers, the server side can be entirely self-hosted too, available as Docker images even. From their GitHub:
The server is simple to setup and run for local development and can be deployed to any cloud provider.

I am aware randyl, it was added as an update to the previous article talking about the source release, which is linked in the top of this article.

Quoting: randylIn my opinion FOSS supporters don't realize how little 'the rest of the world' knows about software licensing, permissive open source, and FOSS/copy-left open source. The OSI has not done a great job educating and providing clarity. I'll venture to guess that many software developers and Linux users don't understand the difference and implications between 'open source' and FOSS/copy-left open source. My point is, let's be understanding and not condescending and judgemental about mistakes or misunderstandings. Most of us are still on a learning journey.
Yes, we're in agreement there.

Quoting: Patola"...as they initially claimed it was "open source" but their license was tweaked in a way that made it not OSI-approved open source"

Can't agree to that. The term open-source was invented by OSI. There is no such thing as "Not Open Source Initiative-approved open source"..
You read far too much into my wording there. I wasn't claiming it was still open source. I've adjusted the wording to be even clearer on that.

Quoting: PatolaSo I will continue to call that type of licence "Open Farce".
I also find that entirely unhelpful, unproductive and just silly.

Quoting: BladeforceNever heard of it but it sure looks like a rip off of worms
Cept this game has nothing to do with Worms, the combat is not turn based and it's basically ya pick a weapon you wish to start with and ya go around killing, using your mouse to aim.
It's a fast-paced retro action platformer. Worms is a turn-based group battler. They're incredibly different.

Quoting: GuestIs it already done? I've played it literally years ago. Yes I definitely give it another shot!

Or am I missing something? Is this a re-release or some sort of early access which is now over? o.O
Sorry, thought I mentioned that, have cleared it up. Was Early Access.

Quoting: Liam DaweIf global stats can be messed up so easily, then it's not exactly a very good system is it. I still remember the days where games came with cheats out of the box, often in the manual and it was a very normal and accepted thing. Now people are far too quick to judge.
How is it different from situation with multiplayer games with no anticheat? "If it's easy to hack, then it's not exactly a good game".
Changing your own achievements, does not directly affect anyone else. It's that simple. Apart from the already mentioned global stats issue. Frankly, I don't get why people care so much. It's a thing, has been for years, on Windows long before Linux had it and Valve never stopped it.

Edit: I do think this is an interesting debate though, and I'm glad we're having it. I'm happy to have my mind changed on such software, as I haven't felt like changing your own achievements is really such a problem.
