Quoting: GuestJust going to copy & paste from a developer replying to the issue. Basically this is less a backup issue, more a development process enforcement issue (if they'd forced proper development processes on all developers, then the code would have gone into the backups properly).Well, to counter-argue here. That's still a backup issue, they clearly do not have all their available code backed up. If someone writes code directly and you don't have a copy of it, you don't have a backup.
But I can see how this could have happened, and it's a good example of why rigid code submission structures exist in some organisations, even if they can be annoying sometimes.
Bear in mind that lobby server itself was taken out. Quote is:

@The sap is rising! We have all of our available code backed up on our SVN server. But the programmer that wrote the lobby code back in 2014 wrote some of the code directly to the lobby server. So we don't have these, and since this programmer isn't here anymore, and probably wouldn't remember what he wrote even if he were, the entire thing doesn't work unless we rewrite.

Quoting: DefFinished it via Proton a few weeks back. A few performances issues but it's a really good game. Probably the best first person puzzle game since Portal 2 and definitely one of my favorite games of the year so far.Steam should download and overwrite it with the native version, unless you force Steam Play. If it was a whitelisted title, Valve would need to remove it from their whitelist (I know this from experience with another game).
Anyone has any idea how steam will react as I have the windows binaries installed? First time for me that a game goes from steam play to native.

Wrong link Linas. From their wording, U-link wasn't the issue. The issue is how they lose their own code, as they said it themselves, they don't have their config and code they wrote for the server.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPAlso, so weird that they'd call it Metroidvania, it's not even 2D. But everyone's just using any descriptor anyway they want to nowadays...Depends what you think the "official" description of Metroidvania actually is. It has a large connected world, where you need to get things to access other areas instead of set levels, which is the most common part of what most seem to think makes a Metroidvania.

Quoting: EhvisThis almost sounds too silly to be true. Of course there is the "don't attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence" idea, but you do have to wonder whether there may be an ulterior motive here. Possible they just want to get on with new stuff and not spend time fixing horrible broken old code for a game that won't generate much in sales from this point. If it's a case of them wanting to move on, it's the worst kind of marketing possible to make your studio sound like a bunch of complete fools.
The excellent deck-builder "Slay the Spire" is getting a 4th free character, update out with touch-screen support

Quoting: PikoloSlay the spire works just fine for me in borderless fullscreen on Kubuntu 19.04.Weird, good to know it's not a Linux-only thing then. It would probably be fine if I only had one monitor, I do wish people just went with SDL.
Interestingly, on a friends windows laptop where I showed the game off, it didn't fit the screen properly and the "start" button was out of reach, preventing play. It worked fine on another windows computer though. Seems like the engine is relatively new and hasn't been given treatment to work around hardware quirks...

Quoting: gradyvuckovicWrong. It is per-game, not per developer.Quoting: kuhpunktFor real?!Although, they did tweak this for higher earning games in December last year so for games that earn $10 million it's reduced to 25% and 20% at $50 million. That's per publisher/developer, not per game.
Holy crap I've been quoting that wrong then, I thought that was per game?!
If that's per publisher, then practically all of the major publishers are already at 20%?! What on earth is Paradox even complaining about?
