Quoting: NanobangI can echo Scaine's thought on that, I've often played a mission or two, then told people in the text chat I was off and I usually see replies of "thanks for playing" and so on. The community does seem really nice in it, makes it all the better to play. Haven't found one single idiot in it yet, very surprising.Quoting: scaine... I get out my drop-pod after joining a game, I hit V, my character hefts their axe and shouts "Rock and stone, brother" and almost immediately, everyone else present will hit V and I'll get a chorus of "For Caaaaal", or "Rock and stone to the bone!" back at me. It's just pretty goddam awesome.Although I bought it some time ago on sale, I've been holding off on playing DRG so it would still be fresh when it came out of Early Access. This little tidbit about saluting upon entering a game speaks volumes about the culture of gamers playing this game. I don't think I can wait any longer. It's time to install this puppy and get Dwarfish.

Yeah the Steam Inventory system is a mess. I have a bunch of old beta gifts I want to remove, with seemingly no way to do so.

Quoting: Alm888It's like you don't even have the tiniest clue what Steam Play is. This is already way past being ridiculous.Quoting: liamdaweSteam Play is here, it's a thing.Does not serve as an excuse for the advertisement of the Windows-exclusive game.
Quoting: liamdaweGamingOnLinux will get left in the dust if it doesn't cover it…This "news" doesn't cover "Steam Play"™. It is a shameless Windows-exclusive game advertisement.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleUnfortunately former Mojang guy Daniel Kaplan at Coffee Stain is really negative about Linux. Not really sure how that's in any way related?

The next CS game though however, if they ever do it, would be likely of course. I do hope they do another CS game, while CS:GO is good it really does show its age.

Quoting: Naibwoopwoop.I doubt they will be updating CS:GO to Vulkan in all honest, probably far too sensitive for a full Source 2 treatment with it being first-person unlike Dota 2.
I agree with the startup time but this is actually comparable to HL2 (I recently replayed that). This isn't too surprising since CS:S was based upon the source engine and while CS:GO has improvements it is still on Source.
I believe this is source1 + OGL related and if they move CS:GO over to Source2+Vulkan we would see a massive improvement. THis is apparent with DOTA2, which is Source2+vulkan and starts up in no time & enters a game in no time. Likewise I recently had to run dota2 in ogl mode due to a buggy update and that experienced some slowdown as well.
There was talk about csgo migrating to source2 for last summer but there has been silence since then

Quoting: Alm888And what it has to do with gaming on Linux, again?Do us all a favour and add Steam Play to your list of blocked tags in the UserCP, I'm tired of answering this rubbish. Steam Play is here, it's a thing. GamingOnLinux will get left in the dust if it doesn't cover it, we're moving with the times, take it or leave it.
Is launching any random Windows game through WINE worthy of a news article?
The Swords of Ditto is a much better and more interesting game with Mormo's Curse

For those having issues, try the new Steam beta, it might fix it as it has an adjustment on deps for gamemaker titles :)

Quoting: purplerhinoYeah I just bought and refunded it, it wouldn't launch on Ubuntu 18.04 or SteamOS.This is likely due to GameMaker Studio 2, their dependency use is really messy.
Hegemone Pass, a 2D stealth RPG that will support Linux is on Kickstarter

I did say the list wasn't entirely up to date, but again, plenty have delivered.
Battletech's status means nothing, it's advertised and supported and playable. Underworld is in testing too currently and Bards Tale IV is still supposedly coming.
Edit: Further to this, Underworld sent out an update today BTW:

Quoting: KimyrielleI guess I might be a tad bitter after ALL my last three Kickstarter pledges either failed or released with a substantial delay after the Windows version (which I consider a fail, too). And while Bards Tale IV is correctly listed as a fail, the two others (Battletech and Underworld Ascendant) are even missing from your list, so the problem is a bit bigger than your list suggests. Battletech did release...something...after a small eternity, but if I am not totally mistaken, it's still officially a beta version. Underworld quietly removed the SteamOS icon from the Steam page eventually, but they certainly promised it during their campaign. For crowdfunding though, really you should go into it knowing that you're not really funding the game. You're helping to fund the person or the studio and it just doesn't always work out.

Much like our last couple of weeks, the internal priority is still on our console port, such as optimizing AI and adding in our Update 4 content so it properly propagates across PC / Mac / Linux / Console. (Note that we are handling PC and Console work in house, and an external contractor is working with us to port to Mac and Linux alongside us.)So it's quite interesting, that the Linux release of Underworld, while late sure, is being given dedicated time and attention :)

If you're going to be like that, you might as well also comment such a thing on any upcoming Linux game.

Quoting: Kimyrielle"Hegemone Pass, a 2D stealth RPG that might or might not support Linux is on Kickstarter"Are you going to start doing this on all crowdfunding posts, because it's being pretty pedantic. This one even has a Linux demo and out of 155 listed on this page only 17 failed to deliver (and the list is outdated, a number more have delivered since).
Fixed it for you. Don't trust a game to be on Linux, unless it's on Linux. Particularly not a Kickstarter campaign.
