Well, no, that wouldn't make sense. They wouldn't use anti-cheat on the server builds because that's their servers, this is all to do with the client-side stuff.

I'm curious what the issue is with that? It's so they can ensure people actually buy games they want and actually redeem them, instead of sucking up cheap keys to put up on a reseller.

Update: the article original noted both models were out out stock across all of Asia, it was amended as that's just for Japan. Also made it clearer it's the EU.

The point is - nothing in game development is guaranteed. We've seen lots of games fail that many thought would be a clear success.

I heard about this the other day, because Ars Technica then ran (and removed [External Link]) an article, which used AI which entirely made up quotes about it all.

The issue with forums, is they may not be social media, but they're still in scope of things like the UK Online Safety Act. Everyone has to be a lot more careful now. We have various safeguards on ours now it's open again, but it's not entirely clear what's expected due to the laws being ridiculously wordy.
