Quoting: Cyba.CowboyApparently Canonical is proposing changes that would force ALL Linux users to verify their age during setup, too... I did post a link to a video discussing this last night; but it needed to be approved by Liam and from what I can see, it doesn't look like he's approved it.No, Canonical are not currently proposing that. They haven't made any decision, their statement is in the other article.

Quoting: pete910It will be to run game servers, Not client. Don't get ya hopes up people !Well, no, that wouldn't make sense. They wouldn't use anti-cheat on the server builds because that's their servers, this is all to do with the client-side stuff.

I'm curious what the issue is with that? It's so they can ensure people actually buy games they want and actually redeem them, instead of sucking up cheap keys to put up on a reseller.

I'm not going to quote everything they say, but I do suggest instead of instantly thinking like that, you read the blog post for the part you're interested in. They give clear reasoning to explain what was done.

Quoting: suchOdd thing to say. To me it's very obvious that a reasonably deep turn-based roguelike with some whimsy and personality, AND cats is more popular than the thematic downer that is The Binding of Isaac or the tough as nails meat grinder of a precision platformer. The point is - nothing in game development is guaranteed. We've seen lots of games fail that many thought would be a clear success.
I guess it's possible to spend years dedicating your life to something unaware of what it is that you're actually doing?

Quoting: whizseHow matplotlib's attempt at moderating AI submissions went:I heard about this the other day, because Ars Technica then ran (and removed [External Link]) an article, which used AI which entirely made up quotes about it all.

Quoting: Jarmergame devs / communities go back to using forums hosted on their own sites. The issue with forums, is they may not be social media, but they're still in scope of things like the UK Online Safety Act. Everyone has to be a lot more careful now. We have various safeguards on ours now it's open again, but it's not entirely clear what's expected due to the laws being ridiculously wordy.
