GOL On Advert Blocking, I Don't Hate You, But Please Don't Do It

Quoting: tigerWhat about a "Game of the week" banner on top of the page, where a developer pays a small fee to GOL for appearing there for 1 week and giving away a code to your readers for buying the game with a small discount or something.

Just some random thoughts
For that you need to actually get developers on-board, most don't want to spend the money.

Like i said before GOL is a service, do you ask say spotify what their employees spend subscription money on? People pay for GOL Premium or see adverts both give me income to pay for anything i need, and quite frankly it's a breach of my own privacy to state everything i need/want to use money on. Not that I mend telling people that their money goes on hosting, food, rum, food, games + everything else.

I won't be setting any mark on an amount of money we need as there is no set amount i need to live.

If people don't notify us about bad adverts, how are we to know? We can easily block certain adverts, but don't shout from the hills when no one has reported that until now.

Quoting: tigerLiam have you tried with sponsored reviews?
I mean, "fair" sponsored reviews, where you alert your readers it's sponsored and "might" be a biased (nothing wrong with it IMO)
We actually did a test once, this was the outcome: http://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/a-quick-message-on-sponsored-articles-my-apologies.3448

Quoting: n30p1r4t3P.S. I think it would be good if you published your monthly financial reports so that we KNOW where all the money is going rather than assuming it's just buying you another 6-pack for example.
I don't agree with that at all, people donate/pay for gol premium on the basis that it's to keep GOL going, it's my choice to use it on whatever I need to make that happen. It's income for me plain and simple.

Quoting: E911You should try to get financial funding in a different way - Flattr or something.
We have a flattr button on every article and the donate page, flattr seems nice, but it's not used a lot.

For example flattr gave me this for the entire of May: €1.52.

Steam Hardware Survey For May 2014, Linux Falls Short Of Last Month

If someone has complaints about Linux it doesn't mean they are a Windows fanboy.

I obviously use and love Linux, but it also pisses me off to no end at the same time. I completely agree on graphics drivers installation from repositories in Ubuntu/Mint being a pain. For me luckily though Cinnamon saved the day as it makes everything bar graphics drivers install a lot easier.

Simple thing like being able to do an uninstall command from right clicking an app in the "start menu", it's little things like that.

A Developer Of Unity3D Also Speaks Out About OpenGL

Wow I honestly thought the amount of "gamers" who didn't update their graphics drivers was low. I am utterly shocked that doing something as simple as that is now what a power user does, my how levels have come down.
