Upcoming Horror Adventure Game 'Downfall' Confirmed For Linux

These games have extremely interesting stories while the gameplay tends to lean a bit on the visual novel side compared to a typical adventure game. I'd definitely recommend them but The Cat Lady first and foremost.

GOG's Installer Encryption Proving to be Difficult for Linux Users

Quoting: TerynNow it's something that, while transparent to Windows users (apparently), causes problems for Linux users wanting to run GOG game installers in Wine. I think users do deserve to have hash checks in their files, no matter where or for what system they're being downloaded from. I know that creates a problem for insecure publishers, because then even closed-source games can be verified by anybody who's bought the game or not.
All forms of DRM is supposed to be transparent to users anyway so that's not even really a defense... With the unique passwords this definitely feels like some kind of an attempt at thwarting file sharing, in other words DRM. Even if their official line is that it's something different I'm not really buying it...

Kyle Pittman From Minor Key Games Talks About Low Linux Sales, And More

yeah so 846 sales total so far, about 50 linux which means about 6%. That doesn't sound like a terrible percentage but obviously when your total sales are so low it's going to be hard to financially justify a port for a platform that makes up only a small part of them. Then again I wonder if that number of sales justifies making the game at all in the first place. Kinda pointless to be bitching about just Linux if it's a failure even on the big platform too.

A Linux Port Of Frozen Synapse Prime Is Unlikely

Quoting: HadBabits"On our next title we were day 1 with all 3 platforms, sales were still atrocious."

After a bit of searching, I found said title: Frozen Cortex. It's a $25 early access, turn-based sports game. Not to be rude, but COME ON. It's an interesting concept, sure, I remember thinking I might check it out once it's released fully, because how many people (Linux or Windows) avoid pricey early access games? Quite a few, I imagine. Especially since we Linux gamers have to be more scrupulous about buying games that have proper Linux support.
Mode 7 did not develop Frozen Synapse Prime, just the original. This dev responding is not from Mode 7 so he's not talking about Frozen Cortex. He could be talking about Goat Simulator as Double eleven has been involved in that. Let's blame the right party at least. :)
