Quoting: ricki42I was considering backing Outer Wilds, but somehow using a new platform seemed like an additional risk. I'm curious how this turns out though.

But I'll likely be backing Harebrained Scheme's new kickstarter: BattleTech [External Link]. Kickstarter will begin next week, and according to their twitter the game will support Linux.
AMAZING news! I absolutely adored the old tactical BattleTech games.

Highly recommended game. Interesting take on the genre with deterministic outcomes and simultaneous turn-taking plus a really nice cyberpunkish world. Love the soundtrack as well.

Too bad we haven't seen that rumored Linux release from Blizzard... HS seemed like it was in the perfect position to be that game. I'll check this one out...

Review: Broken Age On Linux

I say this as a long-time fan of adventure games as well, ever since the golden age with the Monkey Islands, Space Quests etc. The art style of Broken Age is a thing that really draws me to the title. I think it's gorgeous and boldly 2d. I don't think "the thing" is that it needs to be pixel art. Monkey Island 2 already utilized digitized paintings for all the backgrounds (oh would I love to get my hands on those... wonder if they survive and if there are pictures).

YMMV of course, I just thought I'd post my view as well.

Quoting: c00kie55I think its a shame that this game dosent support spotify as i dont own any mp3's
Are there any games that do that? Would seem legally problematic and to require a special deal and development support from Spotify.

Quoting: amonobeaxSame here man.

It seems that they're more successful dealing with huge amounts of units. Maybe PA was too ahead of its time.
What's the issue with PA and big unit numbers?

Tell Blizzard You Want Linux Support In Their Games

I guess they have no plans for SteamOS which doesn't surprise me with how they've stayed away from Steam. I think only the promise of growth from that currently drives some of the big guys to give support.

I really hope Valve keeps at it. I do think something like Hearthstone with the smaller team and continuous cashflow could still make sense even with a small userbase... Supporting Linux would also be a way of trying to remove some dependence on MS. I love Morhaime for his support of SC2 and I'm happy to see him at least respond but I wish he realized that.

As a Unity title Hearthstone would seem like the easy one to start with. Of course I'd love to see pretty much any Blizzard title and hope they'll do it. Was hopeful about the rumors that there were earlier of a single Blizz title on Linux in 2014 but that did not end up happening.

Nightside, A Fantastic Looking Real Time Strategy May Come To Linux

RTS is a genre that's sadly fairly unpopular these days so it's always nice to see a title in development. After watching SC2 at the professional level the respect I have for it is matched by very few games. The mechanical skills required combined with the complexity at the strategic and tactical levels makes it a really beautiful game.

It's too bad SC2 isn't available for Linux (I guess that rumor about first blizzard title coming to Linux in 2014 is either completely false or the title delayed and I doubt it would be SC2) but at least SC:BW should be quite possible to play.

Quoting: DefI'm surprised to read so many good things about this game. The gameplay is as bad as it possible to be and the story is beyond stupid. That and it totally failed to deliver the story with multiple paths it promised to give.
The story is definitely flawed in the end but for most of the game it keeps you on the edge of your seat and I'm guessing manages to get most people emotionally involved. Games are generally terrible at storytelling so anything that manages to do it well even for only most of the game does tend to be well received.

As for the gameplay, it's basically the classic adventure style updated with quick time events and a fairly smart time-limited conversation system. I like it but then again I also like the good old point and click adventures.
