Planetary Annihilation: TITANS massive patch released, with multi-threading goodness

Emperor: Battle for Dune runs brilliantly in WINE, I've been testing/running it for over a decade. Support really picked up about 5-8 years ago. You'll probably enjoy it. The plot could be a little bit better, but it's a great title.

Wine allowed me to re-live a gaming experience I had from when I was a child on Linux

What I dislike about WINE is the issues with older games. There are a lot of older games Circa DirectX 3-5 which are not fully supported by WINE. I've provided Download links to demos, provided bug reports etc for developers to have a look/work on. And for 10+ years now nothing (as in nothing I've requested/begged for help with) has been fixed. It's frustrating when I HAVE been trying to learn howto program in C/C++ and I have been doing what I've been asked to do in chat channels/forums, but the support hasn't emerged.

It's also rage-enducing having people patronise you with "just patch it yourself!". If I ever meet someone who says that to me in person they're going to get sent to hospital.

It's even more frustrating on the Application side of things where apps like Caligari trueSpace work fully on ReactOS but still have rendering issues in WINE. WINE's great, but it's no replacement for native ports.

I'm glad your game works for you, WINE supports a lot of programs and is a great project. I wish it was better than it is.

No Man's Sky has been shown to work rather well in Wine on Linux

Nice, Good to see OpenGL getting some love. Probably why a lot of Windows users are hating on No Man's Sky. AMD support would be rubbish.

Total War: WARHAMMER is still coming to Linux, being ported by Feral Interactive

To be fair NVIDIA has its share of issues. I've had problems with thermal problems and graphical glitches on NVIDIA for years. But having said that. The applications at least mostly fire up and run. On AMD/ATi there has never been that level of success. As a result I still buy NVIDIA as first choice and avoid AMD/ATi. Even Intel has gotten noticeably better whilst from a user perspective AMD/ATi seems to plod along with trouble around driver issues.

Razer announces the HDK2 VR headset, will support OSVR and SteamVR

VR still isn't worth bothering with yet. I'm waiting for the Samsung 11K VR screens which are due in 2018. Why would I drop $1000+ AUD right now as a non-developer? Outside of developers, anyone buying into VR at Occulus rift Prices is crazy. The quality just isn't there yet.

I used to hang with Mike Kulas on the Volition forums. Those guys are great, happy to give cash to them.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and expansions look like they are coming to Linux & SteamOS

Smart money is it was ported by Feral Interactive since they already ported Company of Heroes 2 which is the same engine.

Medieval II: Total War Collection released for Linux & SteamOS

Medieval Total War 2 runs in 4K on Nvidia closed source, with all details/options maxxed out on a 770GTX. Very pleased with the performance. :)

OpenMW 0.37 released, now with the new OSG renderer

From what I've seen of the engines, morrowind to skyrim involves updating file format support in openmw, and adding newer lighting methods. The rest of the engine is just extended/evolved from the base. Similar to how Dragon Age 1/2 are just evolutions on NeverWinter Nights.
