Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition For Linux Is Still Planned
4 Jul 2014 at 5:16 pm UTC

Quoting: HamishIf this becomes native and is not tied to Steam I will probably give it a go, since I have never actually played a Bioware title despite them being loved by so many people and actually being based nearby in Edmonton. Got into Linux gaming too late for Neverwinter Nights, so maybe this can be my introduction.
Since Neverwinter Nights exists natively for Linux, I hope GOG can work some magic and get it running on modern Linux distributions instead of just wrapping it up. What do you think? Would GOG be so kind?

Who cares about Mac? Playing on Mac is like programming on Windows...both sucks!
Considering how Mac OS has 3 times the market share on Steam compared to Linux, this is a very interesting development. One cannot deny this.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition For Linux Is Still Planned

This endeavour will be native, correct? I already own all of Baldur's Gate on GOG so once GOG introduces Linux support later this year, I should be able to play the game. Not natively, of course, since they are old, but still.

Astro, I really wish you would give CD Projekt RED and VirtualProgramming the criticism they deserve for the The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings wrapjob rather than undeservedly criticising Feral for efficiently choosing to not support an antiquated technology for their native port.

Can't believe CD Projekt RED threw all that good will away while Feral and Aspyr are swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck swims in his savings.

Whatever Happened To Torchlight On Linux? UPDATED
26 Jun 2014 at 5:49 pm UTC

Quoting: Projectile VomitI've often wondered why Torchlight isn't on Steam for Linux. I just figured it had something to do with the bugs (invisible faces) and it wasn't worth bothering with. The Windows version of Torchlight works flawlessly in Play On Linux, btw.

I've been hoping they would fix the bug and give us some o' that Torchlight 2 goodness. I'm happy to see they haven't abandoned us.
Last I checked, the bug you speak of had been fixed for at least a year. Torchlight 2 remains a mystery, however.

Thank you for responding, Mr. Rudd! I assume it is safe to say that the Linux client will be on Steam and the Humble Store, but what is your take on it appearing on GOG?
Unfortunately GOG still has the stance of no Linux support. I do hope the fact that the Humble Store has been supporting Linux, as well as Steam supporting Linux will encourage them to change their stance.
It seems you are not quite up to date, good sir!

This open source stuff seems really useful. :D
