you grab DRM free games (from stores like GOG)
If you have problems launching and closing games on Steam you will never get through „grabbing” anything from GOG or any other store.

That said, this appeals to me a lot.

GOG Preservation Program adds Heroes of Might and Magic titles and more

I agree with darth above, GOG only care about Windows and are at best indifferent towards Linux. I know them being DRM-free aligns with many Linux users' values, but they really aren't doing anything to be attractive for us. And this "game preservation" thing only makes our lives more difficult.

Stellar Blade works well on Linux, SteamOS / Steam Deck

It's a shame that the default preset is so blurry,
You haven't seen blurry until you've seen Expedition 33 on the Steam Deck preset. It's absolutely atrocious and disabling the SD lock is a must for the game to look somewhat presentable.

This, otoh, runs absolutely beautifully at 40 fps. One sore point is texture quality, it's very, very low and no apparent way to change it. HDR looks very nice. I was getting around 2 hrs battery life to Liam's one, must be the OLED talking.

The game has its flaws, but is very solid in general, you're in for a good time there, Liam.

Well, the new version will certainly run like shit on the SD, as all UE5 titles do. Perhaps we'll have at least some news of SD2 by then, though.

Starship Troopers: Extermination gets a Steam Deck upgrade

Currently it does have an issue where swapping the mode during a match may crash it. Nice to see!
Yes, it is indeed nice to see.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gets DLSS 4 and FSR 3.1 but breaks on Steam Deck / Linux with Mesa

A new Proton Hotfix is up and it makes the game run again.

I see no option for FSR on Steam Deck, though. Just TAA (like before) and XeSS. The latter improves things, but comes with problems all its own (shimmering opalising effect on textures). I remember this well from Robocop...

Someone in the freedesktop bug says they reported this to Bethesda and got back "This issue is likely occurring due to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle not officially being supported on the Steam Deck. We understand this answer is disappointing and apologize for the inconvenience."

So, yeah, it's all on Valve as usual.

Except that in contrast to Valve, pretty much everyone hates M$, and people STILL don't switch. That's how hard it is to convince people to move away from an established product when there is no compelling reason to.
Do you have a source for that, or at least some stats? In the Linux bubble "pretty much everyone hates M$ (sic!)" is a given, but how many people is that, some 3% of "PC users"?

In my RL experience, the vast majority of non-tech people (and that's the vast majority of all people) don't have any opinion about MS, it's just "what's on the computer", and the rest (of non-tech people) actively loves them for giving them the wonderful tools that let them do their jobs every day.

And people actively prefer to pirate Windows and MS Office instead of using a free alternative because it gives them the perception of having saved money. A free product is worh exactly zero, a paid product used for free - now that's value right there.

If you want to compete in an established market, against a company that's massive and (on the whole) quite well liked
We, Linux users, know this very well, don't we?
