It all depends on Valve and whether they decide to be the leader or the follower. For now it looks like they're the former, insistent on creating something new. MS has been riding on the backs of followers (don't swim against the current, what's the point of making something new, don't spend all that money and time on R&D etc) for 30 years now, it's about time someone stepped up.

Quoting: g000hI'm waiting for Microsoft to offer Valve a free Windows licence for each Steam Deck, or even better - Pay Valve to put Windows onto the device. I'm just jesting, but if this thing skyrockets, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft. This is something that can definitely happen, if it hasn't already.
Hmm... or Google, for that matter.

Quoting: KohlyKohlOne may play whatever one wants, but since it's bound to be excellent for new games as well, focusing on this as a retro machine is doing it (and oneself) a big disservice.Quoting: damarrinUsing this for old games is really not the point, I think. Why not? I plan a lot of older games on my Switch.
Anyway, I'll be reserving my spot in the pre-pre-order queue come tomorrow, I think this will do me just fine.

Does RT run well on older GPUs? If it's just a tick on the box it's a pretty useless thing to get hung up on.

Intel has traditionally been skimpy with cores. I hope this 16:10, 3K loveliness is the start of a new trend.
Anyone can tell where this is sourced from? I can't find this model on the Clevo website.

Yay, that’s me playing through Alyx again! \o/ And all other VR games I couldn’t because my 980Ti is barely good enough for them as it is.

Oh. Well. I did think they sold their cell division to Apple a while ago so that came as a surprise.

Say what you will about Intel's security problems, their software support is always second to none. Interesting news especially about the 5G modem, it's about time Qualcomm had some competition.

Finally, a sensible resolution on a laptop. 1440x900 on a 14" screen is just about perfect. So perfect, in fact, that I've just bought one.

I played this back in 2011-2012 on Linux in glorious 20ish fps. Not because there was something wrong with Wine back then, but because that was all my Apple notebook could do. I even paid some dude to patch Wine to get the map in ME1 to work properly. Looks like I like to make life difficult for myself.
ME1 and 2 were on Steam, but ME3 was Origin-only, so I got and played it on that. I remember the DLC for ME2 on Steam being a right mess, having to download installers from Bioware's store/site and install them manually. It was so complex I remember writing down instructions to do it; I probably still have them somewhere if I look.
I then played ME1 and part of ME2 when it came out for the PS3.
I haven't used my Origin account since and it sucks I'll need to use it now, but I'm less adverse to it than some.
Anyway, I doubt I'll play through them all again, but since they're running I couldn't resist at least trying it out. Good job GE! :-)
Edit: the patch for ME1's map was for Wine 1.3.14. How time flies.
