Now this... this will not work well on the Steam Deck.

Yeah, the information about the m.2 sockets is also new, it wasn't there before. As for not being user-accessible, I'm guessing it means you need to open the deck up to access it and it'll void your warranty.
Scalpers are already trying to make some quick cash with the Steam Deck

Human nature, innit (both scalpers and their clients in this case). Also see microtransactions and the insane amounts some spend on them.

Heh, good point on covid vaccination... I was perhaps to general with the "general public" statement. It's probably more "Windows power users" who are proficient there and don't even consider anything other than Windows is to be used and particularly don't want to learn anything new. These are the people who go around on- and offline telling everyone who'll listen (insert "general public" here) Windows is the way to go. They are sizeable and very vocal and do MS's marketing for them.

To rain a little on everyone's parade (mine included), people on another gaming website I go to have been saying en masse how it's an instant Windows install for it to be even remotely useful. That's what the "general public" thinks, unfortunately :-(

It all depends on Valve and whether they decide to be the leader or the follower. For now it looks like they're the former, insistent on creating something new. MS has been riding on the backs of followers (don't swim against the current, what's the point of making something new, don't spend all that money and time on R&D etc) for 30 years now, it's about time someone stepped up.

Quoting: g000hI'm waiting for Microsoft to offer Valve a free Windows licence for each Steam Deck, or even better - Pay Valve to put Windows onto the device. I'm just jesting, but if this thing skyrockets, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft. This is something that can definitely happen, if it hasn't already.
Hmm... or Google, for that matter.

Quoting: KohlyKohlOne may play whatever one wants, but since it's bound to be excellent for new games as well, focusing on this as a retro machine is doing it (and oneself) a big disservice.Quoting: damarrinUsing this for old games is really not the point, I think. Why not? I plan a lot of older games on my Switch.
Anyway, I'll be reserving my spot in the pre-pre-order queue come tomorrow, I think this will do me just fine.

Does RT run well on older GPUs? If it's just a tick on the box it's a pretty useless thing to get hung up on.
