These days, I wanna go back in time and shoot one Carlo Pietro Giovanni Guglielmo Tebaldo Ponzi every time I see the magic buzzwords crypto or Web3!
The day cryptocurrency finishes going the way of the dodo, I'm going to throw a party! With ice cream and clowns! [External Link]

Quoting: ToddLI see your  and raise you an 🤦♂️. I'm sick to death of cryptocurrency! So if blockchain web3 stuff is your jam, then you might be interested in this I guess? Not one for me honestly.I'm going to agree with you there, Liam. I don't like the design of the device and blockchain is the last thing I want when it comes to handheld gaming

Warning: Nostalgia Ahead!
I have seen every (still-extant) John Wayne movie ever made. Even the ~20 early ones that feel like the exact same movie.
My favorites? Big Jake [External Link], North to Alaska [External Link], and El Dorado [External Link].
Fun Fact: North to Alaska's dialogue was almost entirely off the cuff. The bar fight at the beginning also caused the actors to spend a week getting drenched in real beer every day.
I love westerns, so long as they aren't horror-inspired. I prefer the John Wayne or Audie Murphy type to the Singing Cowboy or Clint Eastwood type.
Any western that gives the 7th cavalry their comeuppance also gets my vote.
The last really good one (that wasn't a remake, prequel, or sequel) was Lonesome Dove.
I would kill for a game set in Tombstone (prior to the murder of Morgan Earp), Deadwood (prior to Bill Hickok's death), or one where I could save the lives of roughly 460,000 people [External Link].
Here's an idea: let me play as a Native American, instead of a cowboy for once! No, assassins don't count!
Failing that, I'd at least like a game to let me meet the likes of Chief Joseph [External Link] or Woman Chief aka. Pine Leaf [External Link].
Going back a touch further, Osceola [External Link] would be a good choice to give players a chance to change one of the greatest acts of perfidy ever. Even Jesup's [External Link] supporters couldn't deny the sheer villainy in that!
Can you tell that I'm talking myself into writing a script for a game yet?

Quoting: Purple Library GuyYup, and its created an internet boom-town more dangerous than Dodge (or should that be Doge:wink:) City circa 1883! Even more unregulated than the cattle trade circa 1883 too!Quoting: CyborgZetaNo offense to people who like cryptocurrency, but I remain highly distrustful of crypto.I don't understand why. Crypto's value is just as reliable as any other traded commodity with neither any inherent value whatsoever nor any institutional backing. And it has no more scammers than anything else completely dependent on a get-rich-quick mentality to keep it afloat.

Self extracting archives?
I still have nightmares about those things! 15–20 years ago, they were a huge deployment method for all manner of worms and viruses!
I caught one in high school when I noticed one of our teacher's computers behaving oddly.
My high school had a contract with McAfee, and I remember having to explain along with both computer skills teachers, why said 'antivirus' hadn't caught a teacher's infected e-mail attachment before it had reached the school's network and why John McAfee's product was absolute snake oil! Thankfully, no one else opened the attachment!
From a bootable USB drive I always kept on me, I ran Malwarebytes and several other programs, and found 122 actual bugaboos and only 2 false positives on the initially infected machine. Apparently, it was pandelirium [External Link] in the computer lab for the next couple hours!
Anyone who uses a self-extracting executable/zip of any kind these days should be shot, hanged, and shot again!:wink:

Now, generic might not mean bad, but it doesn't stop me from being irked by laziness. Literally every new fantasy setting seems to get a more and more generic name.
Warning, slightly tangential:
As a fantasy fan who's also into anime (thanks Lodoss, which was originally Ryo Mizuno's OD&D campaign that he turned into a franchise with its own P&P RPG), most of the newer anime pick the lowest common denominator of place names.
For example, Frieren [External Link], despite being one of the best 'serious' fantasy anime in decades, just tosses around gratuitous German [External Link] names and phrases for nearly everyone and everything.
That aside, the game sounds right up my alley. To infinity [External Link] and even further [External Link]!

Quoting: Purple Library GuySeems kind of . . . standard. Right down to being set in a place called "Draconia".Yup, and Thedas [External Link] is literally an acronym for "The Dragon Age Setting".

I would like to point out that no one is immune from an id-10t or PEBCaK error. I have at least three a week!
Still, this is why you read scripts. You shouldn't have to browse the whole thing, or know anything about the language usedGod knows I don't to spot something nefarious/dumb. Shell scripts especially. If arbitrary code can be run, it will.
I'm reminded of the time some script-kiddie posted an Acrobat Reader PKGBUILD [External Link] that literally contained a download for a malicious script just by changing the URL. Literally anyone could have caught that just by reading the diff. It doesn't take a genius to see through that.
But, as for a whole source tree for a complex theme, program, or add-on? To heck with that! There really should be safeguards in place. For example, part of the problem no one talks about is the fact that most DEs don't automatically disallow extensions that have ancient code that hasn't been updated in years. This can, at minimum, result in a broken system. Built-in expiration dates might help.
Plasma is far from the only DE with problems in regard to add-ons/themes/extensions/Et cetera. Literally every desktop that supports customization on any OS ever has the same trouble.
There has to be some way to limit it without limiting the end user too much. Here's looking at you, GNOME devs, I'm still sore about you relegating desktop icons to a blasted extension! What's the point of an empty desktop? Why even use a DE at that point, instead of just a window manager, if you want that?

Besides, your list didn't include current Bomberman developer Hexa Drive (who are an indie studio) or Konami (who I don't think we could say are). You're not about to tell me they're in on this too, are you?
I am the emo that sulks in the night........ If I had a cape I would be cooler than ice....... I am Shadow The Hedgehog!!!.........
