I wonder how I would feel if I were someone who'd bought Strafe, and loved it, and then had my beloved game become a "wildly different the game ... as a whole"? To paraphrase the Talking Heads, would I be like:
And you may ask yourself, "How do I play this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where is that large bloody third zone?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful game"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful Strafe!" [External Link]
:D

As if I needed reminding about the towering backlog of games constantly threatening to topple over and smother me beneath their virtual weight. Raspberries unto you, Steam. Raspberries. Pftbtbtbtb! :P

Numbers, numbers, numbers;
math, math, math.
We win!
In the world of Linux market share, any good news is still good news, so while I'm not breaking out the champagne, I will be just over here tossing back a few pints if anybody's interested.

Yes! I'm soooo looking forward to this game leaving early access! (Heck, with co-op, I might not even wait that long before I buy it.)

Quoting: razing32hmmmAs I recall, they were (mostly) cracking down on Adult/Hentai games that featured artwork depicting characters that either were, or appeared to be, underage --- a common visual trope in Anime and Hentai.
Wasn't steam cracking down on explicit content ?
Surprised this did not get nuked.
Software news: Inkscape finally hits 1.0 and Krita 4.3.0 gets a first Beta

Like Gimp, I've been using Inkscape so long and with so much success that just seeing the logo warms my heart, like seeing an old friend or returning home after a long journey. It's funny, but I never even realized it wasn't feature complete until now. Inkscape's always done every dance I asked of it.
Krita, on the other hand, is new to me. I began using it when I bought an (admittedly cheap) graphics tablet a couple years ago. I'm still not at all adept with it, but find it indispensable for certain kinds of work. Along with Gimp and My Paint, it's one third of my FOSS graphics triumvirate.

Quoting: mahagr... I had to buy beefy after market cooler as I was getting crazy from the stock cooler ramping up and down all the time, even when browsing here on Gaming On Linux.Just curious about which cooler you bought. The stock one that came with my CPU is pretty beefy looking --- at least compared to the little propeller beanie [External Link] rigs that came with my Intel CPUs --- and keeps things cool (though it does spin up and down regularly, I'll admit.)

And can I get an 'Amen!' from someone that it's crazy that BL 3 has a 'Gold' rating on Protondb.com?

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI confirm that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel via Forced Proton 5.0-7 with the UHD pack installed doesn't crash anymore (at least for me)Do you mean that all the other tinkering (running with Proton 4.11 the first time, the Media Foundation DLL, stuttering, low FPS) [External Link] have been worked out? That would be swell! But what's this UHD pack you mention? I don't remember reading about that.

After decades of Intel usage, I switched to AMD this past winter. Looking over the spec list for this new Intel series I was delighted to find that my new Ryzen 9 3900x still rates better in almost every metric and for less money, less wattage (and doubtless, lower temperature) than anything on this list.
You know what? That feels pretty damn good. :)

Apple's its own little clique and its members love it for what it does for them. There are other VR headsets, and, if I'm honest, if VR really becomes more than a niche gaming thing, Apple will come out with their own VR kit, and it'll be as sleek and sexy and integrated as everything else that they do. I'm not worried one jot for the Apple tribe over this.
Frankly, anything that results in the phrase "more resources being directed at Linux" is a win worthy of a hearty "Hip hip hooray!" in my book.
