Man, Linux Mint has come such a long way from those days when it seemed to be little more than Ubuntu with a lot of Green food colouriing and preinstalled proprietary drivers! I love its success!

My buddy and I are playing through it right now, during our weekly co-op gaming night ... God I love this game. They've done everything perfectly, so rich, so much attention to detail. Definitely gotta be one of the top three loot-and-shoot (hack) games ever made!

It's nice to hear that GOG Connect is still a thing --- I never hear about it anymore. (Alas, I don't have this game on Steam --- yet --- so no freebie for me today.)

Just to be clear, is this a (multi-mode) FPS arena shooter? Cube 2, Sauerbraten, Warsow, etc. were always intriguing looking options on the pre-Steam Linux gaming landscape back in the day, but they lacked any real single-player appeal.

It's been a few years since I had Manjaro on one of my machines. I liked it for the most part. I was just getting used to using pacman --- and really digging the sweet logic of it --- when an update broke something with my Steam Controller, and I didn't discover it until I opened Steam to play something with a friend. The next day, after a bit of fruitless troubleshooting I went back to Xubuntu because when I want to play a game, I want to play a game.
Still, I find comfort in knowing that Manjaro's always in the wings for the day when Canonical is bought-up by Microsoft, or Ubuntu refuses to let me install anything that's not a dog-diddling SNAP. At times being an Ubuntu user can be as troubling as it is troublefree --- so it's nice to know that options such as Manjaro are around. :)

This is a seriously cool app for PS4 owners. If anyone wants to buy me a PS4 I'd be happy to test it out. ;)
Linux game launcher 'GameHub' has a brand new release, with game tweaking support

GameHub has primarily focused more on being an aggregator and launcher for all games on a person's system than a WINE/Proton game launcher, something for which there was less need for not too long ago, I feel. Personally, I prefer the look and feel of GameHub more than Lutris, at the moment, though its WINE/Proton integration has been somewhat less than reliable.

Quoting: KohriasIt is quite interesting that there is so much talk about Lutris (and rightfully so) and very little about GameHub. Any ideas why? Does GameHub have any shortcomings or was Lutris just faster/better with the integration of wine/dxvk?I'm pretty sure it's primarily down to GameHub's just the newer kid on the block and still building its reputation. According to Wikipedia, Lutris began in 2008 --- adding support for Steam in 2013. Lutris began life as an accessible, stable, user-friendly WINE (and now, Proton) tool.

I imagine there's some coding reason that whoever came up with it was unable to use the simpler and saner existing word "direct." After all, to un-redirect, as far as I can see, simply means to direct.
A cop who is directing traffic may have to redirect traffic around, say, an accident, but, once everything is cleared up, the cop resumes directing traffic --- not un-redirecting traffic.
All the same, and however much it's doublespeak, it sounds like it's generally a good thing for gaming using Wayland on Gnome, so that's nice. :)

Couch-based Linux 'GamerOS' shows how SteamOS could be done - with a new release up

Quoting: MohandevirCan't say if they tweaked it, but it's probably based on what may be found in the Steam client / SteamOS.That's sorta what I'm imagining and kinda hoping, because if that's so, then maybe someone could be able to create a stand-alone version of Steam's own configuration tool/driver.

I'm intrigued by GOS's controller support. On the GOS website [External Link] it says:

Use any controllerHow is this accomplished, I wonder? Are they using their own custom driver? Or have they incorporated Steam's own driver? I wonder because developement of kozec's sc-controller [External Link] --- both the older, python2 original and the newer C-based fork --- has seemingly all but ceased, and I would be comforted thinking there may be another driver in the wings besides the one built into the Steam client.
support for Xbox 360, Xbox One, DualShock 4, Switch Pro, Steam controllers and more (compatibility varies by game)
