Lol! Liam, you crack me up!

Golf for Workgroups is a very weird golf game that's now on Linux

Quoting: liamdaweI'm going to be honest, I didn't really get it.
That's reassuring because I didn't get it either. Though rocket powered golf carts do look fun ... maybe they should just make a game about those and leave off any actual golfing. The golf carts could have golf ball Gatling guns and golf-tee mini-missles or something.

Beyond Enemy Lines, a single-player tactical FPS looks like it's heading to Linux (updated)

It sounds just like one of those horrible asset-built FPSs that used to stumble through Green Light on their way to nonexistence --- but it doesn't really look like one of those. An interesting find, Liam. Any word of a fairly competent non-arena FPS (especially an open-world FPS) is welcome news to me. Beyond Enemy Lines sounds like it's still a bit rough around the edges but definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Ashworld, from Orangepixel looks like a pixel art survival game in the style of Mad Max
8 Jul 2017 at 3:05 pm UTC

I grew up in the pre-3D era of video games, when "state-of-the-art" was "pixel art," so for me the aesthetic is something a game must rise above. Ashworld looks like it might very well do just that. I'll be keeping my eye on this'n.

Steam just keeps growing according to a presentation Valve did recently, UI update is coming
6 Jul 2017 at 1:37 pm UTC

I'd be content if Steam's UI:

  • were waaayyyy lighter in Big Picture Mode;

  • allowed me to zoom in/out so I could easily see things on the lighter, more stable desktop client;

  • allowed me to *#^%!! broadcast!

That being said, I still get excited every time I hear that Steam is gonna improve ... well, anything really. :P

The share of Linux users on Steam is still holding steady

Quoting: NanobangAs luck would have it, I recently switched back to Ubuntu Gnome. The very first time I logged into Steam on the fresh install and --- BANG!! Steam Survey!!

Dreams really do come true! :D
Meanwhile, after not getting the survey in a very long time, it pops up when I decide to install Steam in Wine. The hardware survey sure is a fickle thing.
This once happened to me, too. "Would you like to take part in a Steam Survey?" asked the pop-up. "No, piss-off," said I.

Too bad Steam lacks the magikal wherewithal to dig when we were using Wine.

Quoting: UltraVioletgood news, i wonder if this driver might fix a problem i have while using FireFox and my whole system locking-up
That was a kernel bug that Ubuntu introduced by incorporating patches from an unreleased kernel into theirs. Apparently Mint happily copied it. After it being in there for three months, it was finally fixed recently.
Was it fixed in Ubuntu as well? Or just Mint?
It was fixed in Ubuntu (going by two weeks without a crash). Don't know about Mint.
Whew! Groovy! Thanks :)
