Killing Floor 2 release date announced, Linux version to be post-launch

My interest for KF2 was lost long ago. I'll buy it one day, but it will be on sale at a deeply reduced price like all the other antiquated titles I purchase.

No Man's Sky has been shown to work rather well in Wine on Linux

What is this "No Man's Sky" of which you speak my brethren and sistren?
Wherefore utter you a name so puerile and hopeless? So untrue.
It is harsh to my hearing, a sound
not unlike the bursting of a festering pustule
amplified a thousandfold.

I know of no such being.
My blood allegiance is sworn onlyto the coming of the One True Dawn,
the Pure and Piercing Light that is only and forever revealed to we mortals as
Planet Nomads.

In the name of the One True Procedural,
Worlds without end,
Amen.

Slain: Back from Hell, a revamp of the not well reviewed Slain is now on Linux, looks much improved now

Because I read this news on GoL yesterday, I purchased the game yesterday evening!! Funny, you can see the shift in reviews from "Mixed" to "Very Positive." I'm quite excited.

Planet Nomads looks incredible and it's officially coming to Linux this month

2, But Daddy, I want to play it NOWWWW!!!

:D

Some quick thoughts on DEADBOLT, a hybrid of stealth and action now on Linux, it's very cool
12 Aug 2016 at 1:28 pm UTC

Although Deadbolt is on my wishlist, I've been hesitant to pay $9.99 for it. I play games in my living room using a Steam Controller, and already being less than competent with mouse-aiming games, I'm concerned about my ability to "Complete over 25 extremely challenging missions." $9.99 is a lot to pay for a game that I may suck to much at to even play, lol. That said, I will be buying it. It's just a question of price.

Has anyone here tried using a Steam Controller for this game?

Minimalistic puzzler 'Hexoscope' not coming to Linux due to Adobe Air

pinkerator [developer] 10 Aug @ 5:20pm
Guys, that's pretty sad, but most likely "no" Hexoscope [is] powered by Adobe Air and it's not supported on Linux anymore. We tried to make [the] Linux version, but got no success here
Perhaps all is not lost!

Awhile back, the puzzler game Sokobond was also released using Adobe Air, but the developer, Draknek came up with a workaround/fix. [External Link]

Liam, perhaps you might point pinkerator towards Draknek/Sokobond for help in resuming a Linux version of Hexoscope? We may yet get a penguin version. :)

Book of Demons, a deck-building hack and slash adventure will come to Linux
9 Aug 2016 at 12:56 pm UTC

What does "deck building" mean in this context? It looks like "cards" might somehow be a stand-in for a skill tree? I've always shied away from computer "card" based games, but the ARPG look fo this game has me intrigued enough to look again. (Though, the fact that the character never leaves the path in the game then causes me to pause again.)

Anyone more familiar with the game's mechanics and game play?

Project Cars official twitter confirms to me there are no plans for it on Linux now

Quoting: GuestSod them, I'll just pirate it and play it on my Windows partition.
While I would never advocate breaking the law, neither would I denounce Linuxians who pirate the games of liars, cheats, and soulless Microsoft assbunnies.

Addictive free Battlefield-like FPS 'Ravenfield' has its second beta available, some thoughts
7 Aug 2016 at 1:10 pm UTC Likes: 1

I adore the brightly colored toy-like look of the soldiers and the simple, chunky world. I hope the game retains these characteristics as development continues (and I do hope it continues). Given the privileged place of "realistc graphics" in the design of the typical FPS, it would be refreshing if the gameplay (which absolutely must introduce multiplayer to be worthy of the title's Battlefield allusion) were to become polished and sophisticated --- perhaps even somewhat realistic --- but remain dressed in these simple graphics.

Gonna keep an eye on this, Liam. Good find!

Slime Rancher updated, hits 300K sales and I asked the developer about their Linux support
5 Aug 2016 at 12:52 pm UTC

I occasionally purchase Early Access games. Sometimes I'll do it just to show support for someone who's supporting Linux. Other times I'll purchase Early Access games that look like fun in their unfinished form. Always, though, the price must be low enough to offset the sense of "risky purchase" associated with the Early Access tag.

With the exception of Victor Vran, and one or two others, I don't play the Early Access titles I've purchased until they're either released from, or die in, Early Access.

Slime Rancher went on my wishlist as soon as I saw it was available for Linux, but, as others have said here, the price hasn't gone low enough to warrant my purchasing it in its unfinished state. I've little doubt I will buy it someday, just not yet.
