Xbox "Project Helix" confirmed to run Xbox and PC games - competition for the Steam Machine

Microsoft has already said this will be a "premium" device. They're not even going to try to make it affordable, so I'm thinking $1,000 or more. I do suspect, however, that they'll allow third-party manufacturers to make cheaper versions, just like they do with handhelds.

The reasons people leave Windows won't change, and it'll probably get worse now that the head of their AI division is taking over Xbox.

The real danger is Microsoft pulling some anti competitive moves. They are one of the AI companies that bought up all the RAM and forced the prices up, and Nadella said they had a surplus. They could turn around and put that RAM into their Xboxen at no cost. They could also try to sabotage Proton or pull some other shady stuff.

"Senior Anti-Cheat Engineer" is a hilariously dumb-sounding job title. 😂 That aside, I think this will be good for those people who stay on Windows because they simply cannot cannot bear having to give up those games. As long as they can partner with Valve and implement it in a way that doesn't compromise the security and privacy of people who don't want to play those games, I'm OK with it.

I wish they'd go ahead and release the controller, but I understand why they'd want to release all three at the same time.

This will be great for all the people who end up with buyer's remorse after getting this "Xbox" that will gradually begin to inject Copilot into every aspect of it once they've lured in their victims.

Krafton (PUBG, Subnautica, inZOI) becoming an "AI-First" company

I don't know why so many companies think this is an actual selling point and worth advertising. It's like proudly announcing that you're now a "sweatshops first" company.
To quote that one movie: "They're not confessing. They're bragging."

This is good especially considering Microsoft sent their "Xbox" handheld out to every content creator with even a small following. They're undoubtedly hoping influencers will do a lot of the promotion work for them.

but i still think microsoft is dumb for not puting an killer price like 100USD.
Microsoft said ASUS set the price. After all, despite the Xbox branding, it's still an ASUS product.

Anyway, I don't think the "play everything" claim is as much of a flex as they think it is. Yes, there are some people who really want to play fortnite on a handheld, but realistically, anyone serious about online competitive gaming has an expensive mouse and keyboard, a high-refresh rate monitor, etc. Casual folks love the Steam Deck, and I don't think that's going to change for a more expensive handheld that still has Windows on it, despite the Xbox branding.

Normally, there are multiple comments that repeat the same criticisms, but every comment on here is unique and true. lol The crazy part is that Microsoft will still make millions from this, simply from brand recognition alone. I don't think we have to be too worried about that.

My real concern is that Microsoft seems to be testing the antitrust waters again to see how much illegal, anti-competitive stuff they can get away with, especially with more hyper-capitalist governments popping up around the world. I worry someone at Microsoft might try to find a way to lock PC gamers into their ecosystem without fear of being targeted as a monopoly. I don't think PC gamers will go for it though, so it might actually backfire and bring more of them to Linux.

Keep Tuvix? Doesn't that mean the end of Tuvok and Neelix? That's still a harrowing choice to have to make.

Baldur's Gate 3 gets a Native Linux version to improve it on Steam Deck

They had a native Linux version of the first Divinity: Original Sin, so I guess it's good to know they still know how to do it. Hopefully, we'll someday get to the point where it's the norm rather than an afterthought.
