On the one hand, I understand Linux has a low user number compared to other platforms, so it's not surprising that they give Linux a low priority. On the other hand, it's just bad business and unethical to promise things and not deliver on those promises. If they aren't sure if or when they will port to Linux, they shouldn't promise it. Then, when if they do actually release a Linux port, it'll be a big surprise and everyone will love them.
As a parent, this is what I do with my children. If I were always promising things I couldn't deliver, they'd eat me alive (Kids, we're having pizza tonight. Oh, no, sorry. Pizza has been delayed until next week). Good employers know this. Teachers know it. Other businesses know it. Why don't game developers know it?

Quoting: MyeulCIt looks like it's online. It's a click-to-move real-time strategy, so I think it would be pretty difficult to do local co-op.To play co-op, simply select Multiplayer, and either load up your own existing save as a host, or join someone else as a clientIs it local or online co-op? It reads as online, but I would really like it to be local, and the screenshot looks like a local co-op game.
Of course, it would be great if it was both :)

Wow, that's a lot of licensing for all of those guest characters. I wonder what kind of arrangement they have.
Dear Valve and Steam Machines OEMs, you have it all wrong

I think manufacturers will figure out better hardware configurations over time, especially with input from potential customers like you.
Console gamers will look for two things: 1) Affordable price. It doesn't necessarily have to beat PS4 or Xbone, but it should come close. 2) Game availability. People want to play the games they like. This is improving over time as more games come to Linux. These gamers won't care what OS is running in the box as long as the games are there and perform equal to or better than consoles (an easy mark to achieve).
For Windows gamers, it's a more difficult sell. TO lure them to SteamOS, it's all about performance. When Linux reaches a point where it can truly outperform Windows, I think a lot of Windows gamers will gladly ditch it. Microsoft hasn't maintained dominance because there are truly that many fanboys out there. It's different than Apple's users. People use Windows out of a feeling of necessity and then complain about it even as they use it. If these people eventually see the benefits of SteamOS, they'll build their own Steam Machines, which suits Valve just fine. They care about selling games on their platform, regardless of the hardware.

Apparently desktop Linux marketshare has finally hit that elusive 2% mark

Isn't it kind of snooty for Linux users to only count a Linux victory if it's their standard of what they consider a "pure" Linux distribution? If you're not counting anything that runs the Linux kernel, then shouldn't you get all Stallman-like and call it GNU/Linux?

Quoting: dmantioneWait a minute now. We're talking about desktop Linux. Shouldn't this discussion be about ChromeOS rather than Android? And isn't ChromeOS a desktop Linux distribution? You can actually chroot a Linux distro very easily within it. Last I checked, Chromebook sales had even surpassed Mac laptops.Quoting: devlandI don't agree, because you can easily install a Linux distribution in a chroot and it will run your usual Linux applications then. This does not include Android, even though it is Linux,Android is not Linux. Linux programs don't work on Android and Android apps don't work on Linux.
Android uses a heavily modified version of the Linux kernel. That's it.

Vanguard Princess, a 2D fighting game that features an all-female cast is coming to Linux

Edit: I should note. I'm referring to how the game runs rather than the gameplay. It might be stellar.

Quoting: omer666Vanguard Princess is a really good VS fighting game, and I'm not saying that because of the fair amount of fan-service that's provided by the game (even if I could, but that's another matter :p)That's surprising. From what I remember, it seemed pretty shoddy even on Windows. It was a 2009 game made with the "Fighter Maker" program. It didn't even have support for widescreen monitors. Has it improved somehow? I'm not saying it won't be good, but it's hard to see how it could be better than Skullgirls.
More particularly, the animation is top-notch, and the game is often said to have been developed by a former Street Fighter III developer (the best episode to date). Whether this is true or not, the game is really well crafted with some interesting gameplay ideas, and the hitting priorities and overall feeling is really pro-quality.
The game is essentially 1 vs 1, but it uses a second character based on the same model as strikers that can be found in Marvel vs Capcom or King of Fighters '99.
Definitely recommended, will buy when it's out.

@liamdawe Did you play the original Forced, and did you like it? I'm asking because I didn't really care for it, so I'm wondering if this game is similar or might be something I'd prefer.
