Quoting: cxphergmailcomAnyone has screen tearing on NVIDIA drivers? There isn't a vsync option it seems.
Vsync is supposedly on by default. I actually get tearing in Starbound but none in Stardew Valley. I'm running the 367.27 driver.

Starbound officially released!

Has any of you managed to get this game running on integrated Intel graphics? My daughter wants it on her computer, and her Nvidia card died.

Quoting: Comandante oardoA true native Linux port is the one that uses a native OpenGL (or VULKAN) engine...
How many true OpenGL engines are there? IDTech 4...5...6... How many more?
All.
I was asking how many true native OpenGL engines are there, besides IDtech?
There are quite a few from smaller companies that have added OpenGL support. Haemimont - the company that made Victor Vran and Tropico, Paradox's engine, Targem Games - the company that made BlazeRush, and probably quite a few more. They're in-house engines, but they definitely have good OpenGL support.

Edit: And Ogre, the engine that runs Torchlight.

Oh, and I can report that I get about 100fps on my older i5 with a GTX 970 with high settings.

Quoting: GuestI hope they didn't use any runtime translator, since Unreal engine acutally works on linux...
It's Unreal Engine 3, which doesn't have official Linux support. This game is from 2013. UE3 has never run very well on Linux. From what I've seen the "runtime translators" run games better.

Finally, I can finish this game. I've been waiting, Steam Controller in hand.

The curious tale of vanishing Linux & SteamOS ports, a status on a few of them

On the one hand, I understand Linux has a low user number compared to other platforms, so it's not surprising that they give Linux a low priority. On the other hand, it's just bad business and unethical to promise things and not deliver on those promises. If they aren't sure if or when they will port to Linux, they shouldn't promise it. Then, when if they do actually release a Linux port, it'll be a big surprise and everyone will love them.

As a parent, this is what I do with my children. If I were always promising things I couldn't deliver, they'd eat me alive (Kids, we're having pizza tonight. Oh, no, sorry. Pizza has been delayed until next week). Good employers know this. Teachers know it. Other businesses know it. Why don't game developers know it?
