OVERLOAD, a Kickstarter from the original creators of Descent

Quoting: GoboI am amazed that they kept the deformed cube as the basic building block in level design for the reboot more than 20 years later. And in contrast to Underground Overload puts singleplayer first, multiplayer later.
Modders could really have a field day with those cube-based levels. And I prefer the singleplayer over multiplayer, so this game definitely gets my vote over Underground.

Stainless Games announce another Carmageddon game, Linux & Mac gamers not happy

This pretty much makes the name "Stainless" ironic.

This XCOM 2 video shows Linux and Windows very close in performance

This might be one case where I'd actually like the game to run slower so my soldiers aren't dying so quickly. :D

Quoting: fishxzthe nvidia driver doesnt seem to run on newer kernels: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?p=5501095#post5501095 [External Link]

same problem for me and even with the workaround the xserver keeps crashing after few seconds.
It kind of makes you wonder what Nvidia is running in their internal tests. It would be nice if they shared that kind of information. Anyway, it's great to see them making progress.

XCOM 2 strategy game reviewed on Linux
16 Feb 2016 at 2:14 am UTC

I found a potentially game-breaking bug (on all platforms). If you are on a mission where there are Chryssalid pods, do not attempt to save. That save game will be corrupted. If you are on an Ironman run, you could potentially corrupt your game completely and have no way to fix it. You can read more about it on reddit [External Link].

Cities: Skylines to get a free Theme Editor, with way more map customization options

Quoting: GuestLike other comments, still also waiting on that OpenGL performance patch or upgrade to Vulkan before I donate to those devs. Points for getting it on Linux, but I refuse to support shoddy OpenGL development and shoddy Linux releases in general.
Unfortunately, I think you might be waiting indefinitely if performance improvements depend on the Unity3d Engine developers improving their engine.

It looks like Squenix finally drank the Linux kool-aid. There's no turning back now.

Quoting: melkemindThe Unreal 3 Engine was never properly ported to Linux, and every game using it under-performs.
This doesn't explain why the game "under-performs" on Windows and Mac as well, at least according to various reviewers.
If it underperform also in Windows it's not the case of a bad port, it's the game that need to be fixed.
Ah I see. I just read some of the Windows reviews and how bad the performance is on it too. I think that still raises some questions about the engine though. It's a "last gen" engine that developers are trying to mix with "next gen" graphical features. It seems to repeatedly end badly (like the Arkham Knight fiasco). They should have aimed for Unreal Engine 4, even if it delayed the release date a little.

I wish I could say I was surprised by the performance. The Unreal 3 Engine was never properly ported to Linux, and every game using it under-performs. I mentioned this on the forum several months back, and people kind of dismissed it like I was imagining it. If only I took pleasure in saying "I told you so," but I'd prefer to be wrong in this case.
