Blizzard are delisting Warcraft I and II from GOG, so GOG adds a special discount and will keep them updated

Got my original cd's.

Got stratagus [External Link] installed.

I'm fine.

Btw, war1gus and wargus include automated installers compatible with the gog versions.

2K Launcher is finally no more - that's at least one publisher making things better for gamers

So, bioshock games have no launcher at all when getting them from gog? (did the gog versions ever have one?)

That sale looks tempting now...

Quoting: ElectricPrismThese titles are so old they should license the code as open source and dump it on the net. It would do well for their legacy and reputation to immortalize their roots.
Last I heard, Sweeney said he would, but there are too many libraries used.

That was nearly ten years ago. I am thinking that if, by now, they haven't hired a team to dig through the code to replace those dependencies, chances are that it will never be done.

The oldunreal team also seems to be too small for a project of this scope.

Quoting: KlaasThis has been my biggest disappointment of the week. When I saw the start of the title, I thought that it was a release announcement. I've been waiting for the game for a long time.
For me the biggest pleasant surprise; I hadn't noticed (or plainly forgotten) the original reveal. In fact, I managed to miss the existence of this dev entirely up to now

Half-Life 2 free to keep until November 18th, Episodes One & Two now included with a huge update

Is that the game or is it the license to the game that is free to keep? ^_^

Am I correct in assuming that this game, like their other ones, is an ags game, hence going to be playable via scummvm?

Haven't played any game by this dev, yet. At the moment, they are all on sale over at gog, so I think I will test how scummvm runs them on my phone and/or pi.

"Test," that is ^_^

Or macOS silicon?

Checked on the oldunreal website, and it is for Linux Cortex-A72. That includes pi4 and pi5?

If so, I expect there may be an install script on retropi in the not too distant future.

Quoting: _wojtekThis is weird... wouldn't it just be simple to still offer the game in stores (GOG seems like a perfect choice) and/or make it Freeware?
I am also thoroughly baffled by this apparent lack of interest and/or pride in what they made.

...

or not. They can't peddle silly dances in the original unreal, after all.

Back on topic: I see on their github [External Link] that they are also working on arm builds. That would be a raspberrypi port?

Also, I really hope someone from the team could also take a peek at implementing raytraced 3d audio similar to the good-old a3d, but using the recently open sourced steam audio api [External Link]. What we have now, based on eax-like reverb effects in openal, doesn't quite reach the quality of a3d.

To end on a more positive note: don't forget the awesome texture packs, also available via the project's webpage: https://www.oldunreal.com/downloads/textures/ [External Link]

AYANEO 3 now officially announced with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and HDR OLED

Quoting: Avehicle7887The video starts with the best opening line - "Annual Top Flagship Windows Handheld"

...
A handheld unfriendly and resource hog OS. Then they had to cram the obligatory AI which is silly for a handheld designed mostly for gaming.
...
Strike one for stupid branding; they're not cramming in ai, they're using amd's ai-branded mobile processors. Big difference: while the naming is repulsive, the processors themselves turn out to have a very interesting performance/power-consumption ratio. Which, one has got to admit, is somewhat less silly.

Basically, all ayaneo had to do to really grab the enthusiast's interest was name that processor (preferably with the code name, not the ai-manure). All the rest being fluff more likely to scare them away despite that nugget of info.

Drm decreases the value of a game. Adding an extra layer above steam decreases its value for me to the point of it no longer being worth my time.

As for multiplayer safety: They already lost me at the mere principle of multiplayer being centralised on servers fully owned and managed by the dev/publisher. That's a red flag for the playable software in question being a business model first, game second.
