There's always a reason that the organisation in question deems to be a good one.
The problem is, anything short of informed and active consent is ethically (possibly, also legally in some parts of the world) a step on the road in the wrong direction, however much it may be paved with good intentions.
Imo, providing "free" (or, indeed any) software does not give devs the right to trample on this elementary principle, regardless of whether it concerns important usage statistics or something as small as a begging notification.
The second problem I see here is that I am getting sick to the core of telemetry-driven development. There are devs out there, including in major projects, that will take more time to argue that a certain modification did not result in a significant change of usage statistics than it took for a single-person fork project to implement an option to re-enable said feature.

Last time that I attempted to find the original ttd I was very surprised to not encountering it in any digital store. I can't be the only one for who it would have been a near-insta-buy.
Openttd may include its own graphics and music, but my nostalgia brain prefers to use the original data.
On a side note: the remastered music in the mobile version is excellent (the mobile game itself is meh). A bit of a pain to extract it and play it during play (openttd still doesn't support ogg, flac, or even wav music playback), but well worth it imo.

Great fan of mint, and keeping an eye on the framework for my next system.
Still hoping, against all hope, that someone will come along and mod in a classic-thinkpad-layout keyboard with trackpoint included.

Rightly or wrongly, sd cards on pies have a reputation for dying quickly.

Quoting: prosoorHello,The biggest problem people have with using the sd card is not speed, but reliability.
I am using RPI 5 for my Desktop station since 12/2013.
I never had any speed problems with SD CARD providing the card is AT LEAST U3 (just 10 or U1 won't suffice).
The processor is limited, so having a ultra speedy disk won't be much of the improvement, and if it's true that the hat is covering over the processor and if the processor can't be any longer cooled with the coolsink, then it's a huge step back bacause RPIs heat a lot (if used as a desktop PC). If this is true then I won't get this hat.
Also get a decent case with your RPI. FLIRC case with passive cooling is excellent and looks megacool. https://flirc.tv/products/raspberry-pi-5-case [External Link]

There's alternative m.2 hats that fit on the other side of the pi (should one call those boots?).
Even more interesting to me: Argon have released a new case with m.2 support for the pi5 that doesn't get in the way of their cooling solution of turning the top of the case into a cpu heatsink: https://argon40.com/products/argon-one-v3-m-2-nvme-case [External Link]

Quoting: nwildnerInteresting stuff the M.2 Hat, and maybe pair it with other NVMe - https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/m2-hat-plus/ [External Link]Not a fan of having said hat placed on the cpu side, right at the ideal place to hinder cooling.

EA Anti-Cheat arrives for Battlefield 1 breaking it on Steam Deck / Linux

What would be the point of trying to sell that fancy sparkly super-gun with silly victory dance if players were able to mod in much better stuff themselves?

Quoting: finaldestYou don't know? Old-style hosting by players would give them too much power to avoid the in-game peddling of extra manure.Quoting: emphyPerish the thought of allowing players to find their own trusted communities (i.e. friends) to play the game without anti-cheat with.I know right. Why cant we have the ability to create our own servers free of DRM.

Not interested in all the hoopla that comes with it and would prefer to bring my own emulator. An 11.7GB download (as stated on gog) seems a bit excessive for my use case.
