Quoting: gabberAs often as not, you need to embrace the, "Awe-inspiring Power of AND!!" there.Quoting: PatolaThis refusal to answer comments from that Zaimont guy, would that be because of legal reasons? Because with a publicized conflict like that, he's surely not looking to be on the good side. I hope the former employees get their severance package and Health Insurance.Only source Kotaku, based on allegations.. maybe that legal battle is also being fought in the other direction.
Sucks for the regular employees: The either had an asshole boss or a drama queen bring down the company.

From my admittedly limited understanding...that's what happened there.

Quoting: MilesDid they protect their default (master/main) branch and require pull requests with approvals to do any merges? Admin accounts with the power to override shouldn't be used for anything beyond setting things up, I would think. Preferring NOT to use 2FA is the real surprise to me. Wow! :/ Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. Stay secure, my friends. This presumes that your admin/control accounts aren't hacked/compromised. Once that happens...all bets are off.

It's more a pain in the ass than anything else. Nothing QUITE like you're making it out to be.

Quoting: vipor29again use a backup no excuse.Indeed. The problem there is that it's presumed that the hosting service would actually take care of that as it's one of the features of most services. Couple this with git having a backup of pretty much everything there... It's more about finding out the hosting service didn't do backups (oops) and figuring out which is the cleanest clone with the good history you have to restore.

Quoting: GuestPersonally I find vanilla Wine + DXVK runs better for me anyway, but many of the fixes going into new "Proton" releases are probably already in the version of Wine I'm using. In many cases, it was a joint venture between the Wine Devs, Codeweavers, and Valve that they happened in the first place.

Been around for a while- but when your titles (Mostly open source with a few exceptions until recently- and none of the titles I did had surround capabilities...) didn't support surround...it wasn't as much of a pressing issue.

Quoting: denyasisWoa woa.... Surround sound? Since when did Linux support that? That's because it wasn't an easy configurable item. None of the distros bothered to do the things described here:
All I could ever do was mirror stereo to the rear speakers...

> Pull a magic wand out of my *ss:O
You pull out a wand made entirely of magical sh*t and then throw it at the mirror. It hits the surface and shatters into thousands of pieces. You look up in shock as you watch the shards fly away from you.

Oh, man... The thing's humorous...in the sense of it not being actually very good at least a High Fantasy setting. It lost the plot no less than four times and wandered off into the weeds. If they're worried about these models being able to be used to make believable generated content...they ought to not worry so much.

You are Svartalf, a wizard living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a staff and a spellbook. You finish your long journey and finally arrive at the ruin you've been looking for. You look around and see that it's not much different than when you left it. A few broken statues here and there, but nothing out of place.
As you walk through the ruins, you hear some noise nearby. It sounds like orcs or ogres fighting each other.
> Check spellbook
You stop to read the book and find that you don't need to worry about anything. The book is filled with spells that can be cast by anyone who has the knowledge. Some of them will help you fight off enemies, while others might even allow you to communicate with someone else on another plane.
> Examine staff
You pick up the staff and try to feel its weight. After all, this is an artifact that was used by a great hero of the past. You hold it in your hands and begin to wonder if it would work as well as you think it does.
> Check up on noise. Move in to see what is going on
You move closer to the sound and notice that it seems to be coming from a cave nearby. You decide to investigate further.
You enter the cave and soon find yourself in a large cavern where several creatures are fighting each other.
> Look closer at the creatures
You take a closer look at the creatures and realize that they aren't human. They're very tall and muscular, but also covered in scales. Their skin is pale blue and their eyes seem to glow red.
> Wait. Watch and listen
You watch the creatures battle one another and then suddenly you hear something behind you. You turn around and see an orc standing right before you. He looks angry, but he doesn't attack immediately. Instead, he walks over to you and whispers something into your ear.
> listen to that
"This man is the greatest sorcerer in the world. I'm sure you know why.
> Nod
The orc tells you that he knows the reason why you are so powerful. "It's because of me."
He continues to explain how he had a vision of his future. In it, he saw himself becoming a tyrant and using magic to rule everything.
> So, where in this vision are we now, then?
"I'm still in my future," he says. "But instead of being a tyrant, I'm helping to save the world."
He goes on to say that he wants you to use your powers to defeat the forces of darkness.
> Look at the creatures
You look at the creatures and notice that they have some sort of armor on them. It appears to be made out of metal, but there is no way to tell for certain.
> So, orc, what is your name?
"My name is Orvyn," he replies. "And you?"
You don't answer, just looking at him with interest.
Orvyn continues to speak about his vision and how he believes that only you can help him stop the forces of evil.
> Orvyn, what are those creatures?
"Those creatures are called Shadows. They're demons that want to control all of creation. They're really bad news."
You continue to listen as Orvyn explains more about his vision.
> Examine the shadows more
You begin to study the shadows more closely. They appear to be some sort of humanoid creatures with large bat like wings, but they move much faster than anything else you've ever seen. The first thing that strikes you is how fast they are when flying through the air.
> Continue studying the Shadows
As you continue to study the shadows, you notice that they seem to be able to change their appearance. Some of them look human, while others look reptilian. Most of them however are humanoid looking and they fly around in groups.

The big Rocket League update that kicked out loot boxes is now live

Quoting: KimyrielleI guess it's as always - a price isn't too high if people still buy the stuff. If people are willing to spend more money on visual gimmicks than on the actual game, be my guest. Unlike loot-boxes, at least it's transparent and you know what you're getting for your money. It can be if you can't justify it. It diminishes the game if you have to buy your way to success. (It can be an OPTION to do so without negative impacts...and probably should be if you're offering it...but to make it more the requirement?)
I still have a very low opinion about developers trying to milk their customers in that way.Indeed. The title I'm now starting a bit of the preproduction work on will a purchase only thing. It's easier to come up with a sequel or DLC-like stuff for money. More game for more money...not unlocking pieces of the game so you can play. I will give them this much, though- I've a lower opinion of the ones that make it gambling-like.
