For Gog users, Lutris is now the "Gog Galaxy" client for Linux, just click install, for a Windows or Linux native game, and play. Lutris scripts system are very powerful to do more than just install a game: you can even install patch, write config file, download and install third party components, activate DXVK or override DLL... A must to have for Linux gamers.

Steam team made big progress for Far Cry 3, the game is now considered as "Silver". It's not perfect yet, you have to disable Uplay overlay and the game did not exit cleanly, you have to kill manually Uplay and some other process. But with Proton 3.16-8 the game is playable in Directx11 mode.

d9vk, a project based on DXVK for Direct3D 9 over Vulkan

Quoting: torbidoI use Dgvoodoo2 WIP57 >>> http://www.dege.freeweb.hu/ [External Link] which translate older DirectX versions to DX10 or DX11. That could help running older games that don't run well on Wine.
DgVoodoo 2 works recently well when you use Wine with DXVK, I use it to play Starship Titanic in fullscreen with Wine.
But it's not open source and it has less options than DxWnd.

Quoting: hardpenguinMeanwhile I am here with a couple of niche games using D3D8 that are currently crashing in Wine :S:
For games using directx < 9 that does not work well with Wine, I use DxWnd [External Link]. This soft works very well with wine, I regurlary use it with wine when a game crashes (old directx version) or to put game fullscreen in a wine window.
Works well for this games with wine:
Motoracer 1 et 2
Virtua Fighter
Syberia
Starwars episode 1 Racer
Splinter Cell

This method works very well for Sony on Playstation.

The next version of Lutris will allow you to search for more games directly from the client

This is the method I use, in a terminal, type:
$ git clone https://github.com/lutris/lutris.git [External Link]
$ cd lutris/bin
$ ./lutris

and for update, open a terminal:
$ cd lutris
$ git pull
