"This new edition combines all five episodes of the original game into one complete and continuous story."
So this edition integrates the first episode: "the longest journey" (1999)?

I just tested the new Machinarium version: it works very well with wine 2.10 staging. I didn't test with other wine version. It seems more polished, more translation and more adapted for modern computer and HD screen.

If you like adventure game and puzzle, this game is a must to have. The windows flash version works very well with wine, I hope it will be the same for the new directx version. Once more time someone have to say to the developpers it's better to choose Vulkan for a multiplatform game, so why they choosed directx?

Quoting: buenaventuraWhat does Staging mean, really? I've interpreted it as similar to "experimental" or some such.Staging is a branch of Wine with experimental patchs, for example:

From WIne site:
Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop.
Not an emulator, not a virtual machine, it's an API translator between WIndows and Linux.
