I'm a Kickstarter backer of this game and loving it so far. The writing is great, as expected from Obsidian, and I'm having a blast with it. Running smooth as a baby's bottom so far at 1440p, granted I have a high-end PC, so I can't really comment on how well optimized it is, as my system can brute force good framerate out of pretty much anything.

I've never had luck with that PPA. I've tried several times at different times, including just now, and always get a 404 Not Found when trying to update for those repos. I either have the worst timing or those repos have been abandoned.

Scooped up BInfinite with all the DLCs. If all goes according to plan, I'll finish the main campaign right before the launch of Pillars of Eternity, then I'll have Burial at Sea to play in the future.

As a backer of this, I have to admit that it's hard to keep my patience from wearing thin. I knew the Linux version would ship later than the Windows release, but I never expected it to be this much later. Still, they use their own engine and now have their own middleware. As written in the article, once they get this port done, future titles should hopefully all come to Linux and in a much more timely manner. With Pillars of Eternity a mere week and a half away, I can wait for this for another couple months.

Quoting: GuestI wouldn't say 30fps is bad or unplayable, cause this is not a first person shooter where fps matters .... ;)It's bad. Because it's a turn-based game, FPS doesn't ruin gameplay, however that doesn't take away from 30 FPS being pretty poor for a GTX 970 (I'm assuming running at 1080p). Certain genres are more sensitive to FPS drops, but poor performance is poor performance, regardless of genre. Hopefully they get this better optimized by the April release. I'll hold of (at least) until then to get this.

Yes! I've been waiting and salivating for the Linux port of this game to come to fruition. As soon as it's out, and as soon as I read some Linux-specific reviews so that I know the port is not garbage, I'm buying it.
Dying Light Major Patch Released, Performance Finally Okay On Linux (UPDATED)

I do see an improvement with this patch. I'm on a E3-1231v3 (Haswell) and a superclocked 780Ti. I run all maxed graphics settings except motion blur and film grain off (because yuck) and view distance at minimum at 2560x1440 and I've never seen it drop below 30 FPS since the patch, whereas I've had times before with the same settings where it's dropped into the 20s and even the teens. Mainly the framerate just seems a lot more stable with a lot less variance than before. This was tested during all parts of the day and at night. Of course, this was all in the Slums. I'll have to check out the framerates in Old Town too, when I get a chance. It's still not where it should be on a 780Ti, but it's definitely better than it was before for me.
