Nearly 4 years later, Steam still won’t close to the tray icon on Linux without workarounds
30 Nov 2016 at 5:44 pm UTC

Quoting: natewardawgI'm on Manjaro, mine works properly. :) It must just be an Ubuntu thing?
Same here, it's always gone to SysTray if I hit the X button. Maybe Manjaro already includes the workaround by default?

98% chance this has nothing to do with Linux.

sudo pacman -S libc++
did the for me on Manjaro. After that the installation went through without a hitch.

Feedback needed for our 'Linux Game Of The Year Award' that will start soon

Seems to work fine for me. We're talking about games that were released in 2016 on Linux, even if they were released in a previous year on Windows, right? So, for example, Mad Max (Released for Windows 2015, Linux 2016) would be eligible, right?

A 2016 Thanksgiving retrospection about the open source game engine 'xoreos'

Quoting: z1lt0idI can't wait to play Witcher 1 on Linux using this open-source implementation.
As much as I love that game, I'll probably never play it again even when I can play it natively using Xoreos. I've thought about replaying it on several occasions, but when I do the nightmares of THE SWAMP return. I can't bring myself to go through that swamp again. That area was the worst. It's too bad, because I really liked the majority of the rest of that game, but that swamp is so awful.

A big thanks to the team for their work. I can't wait to someday play Jade Empire again using this engine.

For those still interested, it looks like Homefront: The Revolution for Linux is still being worked on

Another thing I should mention, I'm really happy that, to the best of my knowledge, Dambuster Studios is working on the Linux port themselves, rather than subcontracting a porter. Don't get me wrong, I love Feral and Aspyr and VP and wish them success and hope they get plenty of work (Feral sure are), but it's good to see a game developer tackle the porting themselves because it means they learn how to program and optimize for Linux. This means that the next game they work on, chances are pretty good we'll see a Linux version, possibly even day 1, since they'll already have the tools in place and the experience of working with Linux.

I'm going to scoop up a bunch of Wadjet Eye point & clicks on the cheap. :D

Ittle Dew 2, the Zelda-like action and adventure game released day-1 on Linux
22 Nov 2016 at 5:30 pm UTC

The first one is well regarded and this looks like more of the same Zelda-esque goodness. The fact that Ittle Dew is supposedly more about puzzles than combat is a plus in my book. I also like that simple but pleasant art style that doesn't try to milk the ridiculously played out retro pixel graphics trend (There's nothing bad about pixel art, but for every Shovel Knight and Owlboy there's a hundred games with, quite frankly, shit pixel art) I intend to play both Ittle Dew games, but my backlog is too long right now.
