Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun now has the Linux demo available
5 Dec 2016 at 11:22 am UTC

I had a blast with the demo and I'll definitely be buying the game just as soon as it comes out. I haven't played Commandos or Desperados in many years, but Shadow Tactics felt instantly familiar. I'm glad to see another game in this genre, and on the penguin to boot.

Quoting: slaapliedjeUnfortunately there is a plethora of those Anime style 'dating sim' games...
Disgaea 2 is not a dating sim, it's a sRPG, a damn good one too.

I have no interest in beta testing, but I'm happy they're already testing the Linux version to make sure it's solid at launch. This is definitely a day 1 purchase for me and, no hyperbole, my most anticipated title of 2017. Getting a Disgaea title on Linux is a dream come true. Hopefully this sells well enough on the penguin that we eventually get all the entries in the series.

Redout, a fantastic looking tribute to games like WipeOut could come to Linux, with enough interest

I would insta-buy this as I am a big fan of F-Zero and Wipeout.

I hope not, those games were awful.

Inner Chains, an incredibly brutal looking UE4-built FPS that's coming to Linux shows off some gameplay

This looks metal as ****! :woot: That said, great graphics and cool atmosphere alone do not make a great shooter and the few momentary glimpses of actual shooting at the end are nowhere near enough information to gather whether this will be a competent shooter. Hopefully it plays as well as it looks.

ZeniMax are flexing their legal muscles towards DoomRL

On the one hand, Zenimax, as loathsome a company as they are, are completely in the legal right here. On the other hand, a company with a soul would let this go, or even give it its blessing, as DoomRL is in no way hurting their bottom line nor the image of the IP. They could even use giving DoomRL their blessing as a bit of positive PR, but they didn't because that's not how the soulless suits at Zenimax think.

It looks like more classic Topware Interactive games are coming to Linux

Oh, no. Dead wrong in that case. Because The Witcher 1 only needs an engine Upgrade. It runs on Unity 3.5.2f2; Unity works on Linux from Unity 4 on.
The first Witcher game runs on BioWare's Aurora Engine. I've pretty much lost any faith I might have had in CDPR's Linux efforts at this point, I find it much more likely that Xoreos will be what eventually allows us to play this game.

Anyway, back on topic. A big thanks to Topware for continuing to bring these games to the Penguin, even if they aren't up my alley. The 2 wargames are not my jam and the game with the anime girl doing flips in her battle bikini (bikinis are famous as the strongest armor known to man) isn't particularly well rated, but I still appreciate the efforts and I'm sure some people will like some of these games.

The Dwarves, the new fantasy RPG from KING Art is now available

A game I'll probably get in the future, but it's too close to the release of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. I hope it's good.

What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

Planet Coaster is the game I would probably want the most, but it wouldn't blow my mind as much as GTA V coming to Linux, that would probably make me pass out.
