I don't know what to think of Firewatch. I'm not convinced. It looks like a walking simulator. I'm taking a wait and see approach, likely.

It just dawned on me that this comes out in only a couple of days.

- Never-before-explored setting: The rich world of paranormal phenomena has never seriously been used in a videogame before, and offers strong narrative themes, a genuine horror atmosphere, and endless gameplay opportunities.
What, they can't be serious? Have they ever played actual computer games, or is it just their marketing people who are clueless and can't use google?
I don't know, but I can't find any horror game which uses a real hunting place locations.
While technically a fictional place, Fatal Frame 5's Hikami Mountain is very clearly a name swapped Aokigahara, the "Suicide Forest" at the base of Mt. Fuji.

Anyway, this looks interesting. I'll keep my eye on it.

Hopefully they add in a MSAA option soon, though, if TB's video is anything to go by, MSAA tanks framerate hard on Windows.

American Truck Simulator has an early release, day one for Linux

Quoting: LarianHey everybody,

I guess I'm just the guy who doesn't get it, so I'm reaching out to everyone on PoL to give me some perspective.

What is the appeal of these truck driving games? I was an OTR driver for 7 years all over the lower 48 states, and for the life of me I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this for fun. I'd rank it up there with (hopefully) non-existent titles such as "Factory Worker Simulator" or "McDonald's Lunchtime Rush".

Hate me if you want (and I mean this in all friendliness and good humor), but what the hell do you all see in games like this? Professional truckers everywhere want to know!
It's relaxing and it's something different from the usual shooting people in the face game. I can definitely see not wanting to play this if I was a truck driver for a living, I sure wouldn't want to play a game of what I do 8 hours a day everyday. But I'm not a truck driver, so for me this is getting to live out the fantasy of the open road and doing it at a chill pace, rather than the white knuckle of a racing game. It's just, it's something different.

Batman: Arkham Knight for Linux & SteamOS cancelled

Well, the Windows version was an unmitigated disaster, so I'm not shocked. Still a bummer, though. :(

Mad Max looks like it really is coming to SteamOS & Linux after all, another massive game for us

Please let this be true.

Want to play XCOM 2? The system requirements for Linux & SteamOS have been sent out
3 Feb 2016 at 3:31 pm UTC

It should be noted that The Cynical Brit put out a WTF Is video for XCOM2 yesterday. He loves the game but did note that there are bugs and performance issues with significant frame drops. Even he couldn't max the game out at 1080p, and TB has a beast of a machine with a Titan X. So unless the Linux port is better than the Windows version, which would be awesome, I wouldn't expect anybody to be able to max this game out at the moment.
