Why are you folks arguing over semantics? What difference does it make what term you chose to use and which one is "technically" correct? I think of crowdfunding as a risk, in that way it is similar to both an investment and a pre-order. In both cases you are putting your money up front and not immediately getting something back, just the promise or possibility of something down the road, hence risk.

Dying Light: The Following Announced, A Story-focused DLC To Come

Sweet, I am definitely looking forward to this. The performance is less of an issue for me since I have a highly overpriced video card (Titan X) and can brute force a playable framerate out of the game, but I would still appreciate increased performance. I thoroughly enjoyed the base game, minus the garbage final boss fight, and the prospect of running over zombies in a dune buggy is appealing.

Finally I'm going to get to play the game I helped fund that Windows and Mac users got to play OVER A YEAR AGO, in theory anyway. I really hope this new version still retains a proper PC interface with proper key rebinding and hotkeys and such along with the newly added controller-centric interface built for consoles and we're not stuck getting a "streamlined" consolized Dehanced Edition that forces the controller-centric interface on us.

As for their D: OS 2 Kickstarter, best of luck to them, but they're not getting a penny from me.

Edit: Bloody hell, the f'n system turning : O (without the space) into a f'n smiley. *sigh*

"I've never listened to Motörhead before"

You're dead to me, Liam. :P

In all seriousness, this should be most excellent, I look forward to it.

The Ubuntu Guys Have Already Worked Out A More Official PPA For Nvidia Driver Updates

Well, that was quick. I'll stick with Edgers until the next major stable driver release, as everything is working well for me and I want to give this a bit of time to marinate.

I'm down to try VR, but, as with any new technology, I think it's smart to skip the first iteration or two. I'll let it mature for a couple of years and scoop up a better quality unit for less once they've worked the kinks out.

Ubuntu Developers Looking To Simplify Getting Latest Nvidia Graphics Drivers

I'm currently a Xubuntu user that uses the "random PPA" method. Honestly, it's not that much of a pain. Adding the PPA to the list of sources is a relatively pain-free process, and once that's done installation and updating is just as easy as from official sources. Still, it would be nice for there to be a more official PPA with the up to date drivers, potentially one that shows up in the Software Center, so that no googling is necessary for new users.

Nvidia To Show Off Vulkan On NVIDIA GPUs & An OpenGL Linux Graphics Debugger

Nice. It will still be some time until we see actual games taking full advantage of Vulkan, but the sooner the spec is finalized and the sooner there are drivers supporting it, the sooner we will see said games taking advantage of Vulkan.

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Due In October

I'm looking forward to doing my second playthrough of the game, this time on supreme jerk difficulty, once this comes out. I had begun my second playthrough a couple months back, but this was announced a day or two after I started and I decided to stop, since I was only at the very beginning of the game, and wait for the Game of the Year Edition Director's Cut to do the second playthrough.

Nice. I like open world shooters. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is one of my favorite games ever, largely due to being open world, allowing me many different possibilities on how to approach a target and what strategies to use.
