Logitech F310 Gamepad Review On Linux
19 May 2015 at 7:36 am UTC

@Liam regarding sentence:
Feels like it might actually last quite some time even with me dropping it all over the place, and my son throwing it around.
You're very right. I have my F310 for over 3 years now and it works like a charm (I've never had gamepad that would work for so long).
In general it works great with my Ubuntu, especially with Steam like @Liam says.
Unfortunately I was unable to setup it to work with Wine and Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition, It did not work with latest port of Spec Ops: the Line either and also it did not work with GOG version of the Witcher 2. But it works out of the box with all the Valve games that support controllers, it worked with other games like Trine 1 and 2 (but with weird behavior of the trigger buttons), it works like a charm with all the Klei Entertainment games (Don't starve, Shank (1 and 2), Mark of the Ninja), it works great with Steam version of Witcher 2, it works great (after small configuration) with PES 2014 via Wine with PlayOnLinux wrapper.
In general I've spent a lot of time with this gamepad in my hands and I have to admit that it's very good, it is very comfortable and I can tell that it is for sure worth it's price.
Hope that someone will find this post valuable.

Spec Ops: The Line Released For Linux, Initial Port Report Included

@dubigrasu It is impossible to even start the game with gamepad plugged in because in menu it permanently changes selected option - it behaves like "up" button is treated as pressed.

Spec Ops: The Line Released For Linux, Initial Port Report Included

I just gave it a try and I have to say that game is very cool, and port is not very bad, but for sure needs some additional work.
On my machine (i5 2410m, 10GB RAM, gt540m, Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit) I have about 20-30 fps and some serious drops from time to time. And like Liam and few other Logitech F310 - I just cannot use controller in game which is pretty disappointing.

Anyway - I am glad that this genre of games finally has a nice representative on the Linux system.

Commander Cool 2, A Tribute To Old 2D Arcade Platformers

@pb I have finished Trine 2 (I have started from 2, because 1 was not realeased on the linux at that time) and Mark of the Ninja and I can ensure You that both of them are very good. In fact if they aren't good then I don't know how other platformers can be good.

The Witcher 2 Has A New Beta For Linux, The Improvements Are Staggering
8 Feb 2015 at 12:35 pm UTC

Thanks Eike,
it seems I have the newest version. In my case nothing improves, on ubuntu 14.10, i5 2410m, gt540m, 10GB RAM I still have 18-24 fps on the lowest settings. But anyway, I was able to finish game having this frame rate before reported update and still I think this game is great. Virtual Programming did great job since the Witcher 2 was released in may 2014 and I hope they learned a lot during this time and they will provide us some new good ports.

Divinity: Original Sin Is Pushing Ahead For The Linux Release

Honestly it's hard for me to believe that there are many people working on linux port of this game. It's been already more than half of a year since game was released. And what's important - linux port was anounced "just after Mac version". Mac version was released the same day windows version was released, linux port is not there yet.
I want to ask everyone who supports linux gaming - do not buy this game until it is officially released for linux, because I have a fear that many companies will learn wrong lesson, that it is enough to say "We will release linux version" but it won't happen at all.

The Witcher 2 Has A New Beta For Linux, The Improvements Are Staggering

How can I determine if I use correct version of the Witcher 2? I've already had linux_public_beta selected in betas tab, there is no other beta that I can select and there was no big update downloaded by steam. Is there somewhere any information about game version?
