I would like to see at least one of steam machines having similar hardware architecture as PS 4 or Xbox One. I do not mean by offering similar hardware specs but rather having united GPU and CPU and access the same memory for GPGPU stuff. I would like to fiddle with that. Also it would be cheaper and more powerful, but less customizable. And I don't care about that, there will be others.

Quoting: tuubiPerhaps something like Windows does? But more advanced?Quoting: EikeThat's why levels make more sense. Level 3 is super-duper today, medium in two years and low-end in say five years, when level 5 is the new super-duper.How would you decide what sort of hardware corresponds to a level? With a benchmark? Should there be a validation process where Valve tests and grades each and every Steam Machine on the market?

They should put some marks on Steam Machines, like low power, medium (all games, but average details) and high for enthusiasts to resemble their actual performance. How could you then guide people with low-teh experience or console using on buying them and not letting them to get upset? They will be angry when they will discover that their super low budget Alienware Stem Machine could not even run all of games, nor they would look as pretty as they look on consoles.

Valve Is Trolling Us With A New Half-Life 3 Leak

Just imagine, it would attract a lot of new people, speed up steam machines sales, more interest of big AAA game companies in platform, etc. Even a big Microsoft didn't have such exclusive with Halo.
And for us, it's a win-win situation, more people on Linux.

Quoting: linuxgamerYeah, HL 3 is like a nasty bomb just waiting to explode. And Valve have that privilege to trigger it. If they use it effectively, it could make a serious earth quake in entire gaming market.Quoting: liamdaweWhich is a reason I respect them, exclusives are the devil. They deserve our respect but exclusivity makes the money. Who would ever buy a Xbox if Halo wasn't Xbox only (*some were released years after for Win), me not. (Own Xbox 360 with Halo 4 but no other game)

It was expected something like that to happen. I mean it makes sense if you want to get them in short time and VP has proved to us, at least to me, what can be done with titles like Arma 3.
