My prediction ... Valve are working on a streaming service and they partner with Cloudflare not one of the big 3 cloud providers.

RetroArch brings more emulator cores to Steam including PPSSPP
11 Nov 2021 at 6:31 am UTC

I have tried RetroArch a number of times in the past and have never managed to successfully play a game using it. I decided to try again using the steam version as some old PSP isos from when I had a PSP.

I managed to load the PPSSPP core and even start a game, which is better than my last attempt. Unfortunately the game does not recognize input from any of my controllers (ps4 and steam controller). The keyboard "works" but I get stuck in the game start dialogues. Enter works to get me a some ways in but then I get stuck on a piece of dialogue. Random keys then start videos recording, pause, speed up the game and other random things occasionally quitting the emulator and sometimes steam itself. Finally I use ESC to quit.

So close and yet so far.

Does anyone know how to get controllers working?

Update I managed to work out some keyboard controls with trial and error and then found: https://docs.libretro.com/guides/input-and-controls/ [External Link]

Hopefully that helps someone

Man I played this so much back in the day. Would love it if ETQW (and Tribes 2) could also get source code releases so we could run them on modern systems.

Probably worth mentioning where the Storage Manager is located: Settings > Downloads > STEAM LIBRARY FOLDERS

Surviving Mars: Below and Beyond DLC out with a free update, Surviving Mars free to keep

I picked the wrong time to be in the middle of a play through. I have 78 hours play in the last 2 weeks. First up my savegames were missing, I worked out how to fix that but there are so many bug reports I'm hesitant to continue playing. I'm going to give it a few weeks, hopefully they are responsive. Its a great game so its really positive its getting updates but it seems the new team have not done an adequate job testing.

Collabora give an overview of their work with Valve at the Linux App Summit 2020

Given all the speculation I usually read on this site about Valves long team goals and strategy I am surprised there is zero discussion about the `Atomic Updates and A/B booting` section of this talk. This technique pioneered a few years back by CoreOS has very obvious application to consoles (steam machines).

Correction: I wrote the comment above having listened to the talk but not read the full article, Liam makes the same point in the article.
