Gears of War: Reloaded is officially Steam Deck Verified and SteamOS Compatible
19 Jun 2025 at 10:55 pm UTC

For me, Gears of War was what the 3D versions of Contra should have been. The setting is very similar, and it would be similar to what Nintendo achieved in the transition from 2d to 3d in the Mario games. Instead, what we got as a series of uninspired games that were a stain in the Contra franchise.

I hope they release a demo, because there is no way I'm buying this at launch.

GOG Preservation Program expands with Devil May Cry HD Collection, Devil May Cry 4 and more classics

One wishes someday GOG will be able to sell No One Lives Forever 1 & 2. Some years ago they tried and the shareholders were too lazy to even respond to their proposal.

Nostalgic helicopter shooter Cleared Hot has funny physics and a demo worthy of your time

I liked it too, better than Megacopter, another Desert Strike inspired game. Plays nice, although it does feel something that was originally build around mouse and keyboard controls, with gamepads as a afterthought.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller is a top premium-feeling controller

I have a Pro 2. Out of curiosity I installed their software on Windows to test the back buttons and I was surprised they didn't worked all that well on some games. Looks like Steam Input don't like 8bitdo software, so for example, L4D2 didn't recognized the back buttons.

I hope on Linux the situation improves with time, although the back buttons seems more useful for FPS gaems and for those, I have a Steam Controller, which is better for that type of game.

NVIDIA release fresh details on their current Wayland support and future plans
21 May 2025 at 11:29 pm UTC

With the current Windows drivers riddled with bugs, don't expect Nvidia to care much about Wayland on Linux. Unless is something AI related, they probably will not put in the list of priorities to fix.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition announced with Steam Deck support

Judging by not being compatible with the older games saves nor mods, I would think those are on a new engine.

Now comes the question: are they as bugged as the originals? Because those are notorious for the amount of bugs they have.

Linux GPU Control Application (LACT) gets a new fan control UI, automatic fan mode threshold on Nvidia
14 May 2025 at 12:48 pm UTC

I've been using LACT for a month or two now to underclock my Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super (which is a factory overclocked card) and it's been a fantastic experience
I do a similar thing on my RX 6700 XT. It is a original AMD model that looks great, but have a subpar cooler. I undervolt it and limit the TPD for less 9W, so its junction temperature don't exceed 100°C.

They just need to copy the Steam Deck control layout for touchpads. Those are in a really awful location. Or better yet: make the first portable with customizable controls, a-la the Thrustmaster ESWAP or the Turtlebeach Victrix Pro.

Steam Deck sales still going strong over three years later

It could have sold even more if Valve expanded its sales to the entire world, instead of only in selected markets. Here in Brazil, for example, you cold only get one in the grey market. But we can get a Asus or Lenovo portable from official resellers if we want. But, you know, they are not a Steam Deck.

8BitDo Ultimate 2 is getting full Steam Input support for more buttons

I have a Pro 2 and out of curiosity I tested it on Windows to play with the back buttons. To my surprise, not every game supports them. In fact, I left very disappointed with the experience. I thought it would just work, but nope.

Lets see if things improve now.
