Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander released with day-1 Linux support, some thoughts

I like this game, I have played almost 8 hours this weekend. But I will wait to play more as I have found some bugs that make you lose important resources, like training an officer but nothing happening, or timers being ignored and missions lost because of it even when there was plenty of time to do them, and losing 3-4 colonies at once is a serious blow to the resource production, another bug caused all of my colonies, even when there was no enemy there, to stop producing resources, just sitting there at 0, which again its another bug that severely hinders your victory options.

Nightdive Studios aren't sure when the Linux version of the System Shock remake will be available

So they are not making plans for their FIRST strech goal but I'm sure that they have plans to release other stretch goals day one, I cannot believe that they will delay localization or extended narrative after Linux version is released.

They should reorder the strecth goals and stop using Linux as a bait.

System Shock remake heads to Kickstarter, Linux is the first stretch-goal

Quoting: Mountain ManI often get the impression that developers list Linux as a "stretch goal" not because they're actually interested in making a Linux version but because they know it will attract more donations.
I think that it depends more on the company and its planning, than in it being a stretch goal or included in the base goal.

Pillars of Eternity had Linux as stretch goal and they released it on day one, on the other hand Divinity Original Sin had it listed as a main platform and everyone knows what happened, the original game wasn't even released on Linux, only a delayed enhanced edition.

So they have it listed as Linux supported on Steam but the game is not available on Linux? Just another great decision on their history of great decisions regarding this game.

Quoting: Picoboom
Quoting: BumadarI backed it, so been playing the beta, it has some rough edges still but that is allowed for a beta. I do love what I played so far though and King ART is an okay developer in my book :)
I hope that when you say, "playing the beta," you mean the Linux beta. Yes? Yes? Oooo say yes. That would make my heart go all "Yayyy!" 'cause it means that they're already working on a Linux build.

I really want this game.

So say, "Yes."

(yes) :)
Yes, there is a Linux beta and the backers have access to it on Steam. I haven't tested it much but except the videos the game works well. When they released it there was some issue with some folders not taking into consideration that Linux uses case sensitive filesystems but King Art fix it pretty quickly.

Enemy Starfighter, the seriously cool looking space shooter is no longer coming to Linux

So they build the game for Windows and when they tried to export it they found unforseen issues with the process, as has happened countless times before. Some companies make good on their words, even if later down the road, like Larian, others simply cancel the game.

The developers should start referring to the Linux version as port, it should cause less surprises in the future when they decide to cancel or delay it. That's the difference between planing a real cross platform support and treating other systems as an afterthought. I'm fine with either, Windows has the marketshare and I understand that a developer may decide to focus on it, but at least they could say so from the beginning talking about ports and not supported platforms.

Seems to be fine, but not enough for me to put money in a Kickstarter, I will check it again when they finally release the game.

On an unrelated topic, now that I see mentioned Day of the Tentacle, any news on when they expect to release the Linux version?

So they still haven't added the option to modify the settings outside Big Picture mode. Does anyone know if Valve has any plans to add it in the future?

It's not available on Linux. I have the Deluxe Edition and this DLC is included in the Reinforcement Pack but I haven't received any update for the game.

Wow!!! A complete different game after applying the modifications, now it's perfectly playable. I wonder why the default values behave so bad.

Thank you for the tweaks!!
