Quoting: rustybroomhandleJust spotted this "review". For the sake of all of us, please don't be like this.

I mean... he isn't wrong...

Ha, would be amusing if people would give negative reviews on games with 'Is published by EA'.

Quoting: CorbenNo way! No effing way! EA? What? I can't trust my eyes...

Squadrons works great on Linux, even in VR! Well, there are some issues, it can crash here and there (though I guess it was related to async reprojection for me), but in general I enjoyed it a lot. And that was well enough for me, because I never thought it would get EAC support. Dang, this is cool.
You can watch my journey via the VoDs on youtube.
Linux needs the Thrustmaster configuration / Scripting stuff ported to it... then I could finally use Linux to play Elite: Dangerous... then again there are some third party tools that make the game a bit more playable that I think may have issues in Wine... maybe one day...

Get a bunch of Myst games in this latest bundle
31 January 2022 at 5:32 pm UTC

I ended up getting this bundle. Granted the only game I've played in the series was the first one, which I completed on the Atari JaguarCD. Myst was released for EVERYTHING back in the day...

I did buy Obduction for the VR, but have yet to spend any time trying it out.

Guess grey never gets old for me :-)

Yeah unfortunately they changed the default to all grey, thankfully there where lots of projects like MagicWB that changed it up a bit:
I love MagicWB. Still prefer it over the new icons that the 3.1.+/3.2 come with. Do find it awesome that 3.2.1 came out recently.

It's my favorite Amiga exclusive RPG, so can only recommend doing that :-). Not sure how it'll hold up, though. Those early 3D dungeons will likely feel dated by today's standards. Though I guess the 2D parts and gameplay ought to be just fine.

Quoting: slaapliedjeWere you aware there is an effort to recreate it with open source for modern systems?
Didn't know that. Are you are referring to Ambermoon.net? Looks like it is already pretty much complete.
That's the one; I think there were some bugs needing to be squashed still, though it may have been a while since I was reading the threads over at eab.

Ha, I still buy Amiga and Atari games. 'dated' is kind of an interesting term. Take for example Prince of Persia on the Atari 8bit; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTyuuPG-ibI this looks AMAZING on the Atari. Likely couldn't have been done back in the day, as development tools and some hard ware tricks really weren't known about. Plus there was always this 'we'll make it easier to port to other systems, so not use a lot of the very special modes system X supports'. Is it a giant 100gb download? No, but still very impressive. Watching people squeeze every bit of performance out of old systems still makes me smile.

Ambermoon was absolutely amazing to see run on the Amiga. One of these days I'll put mine all together and play it (though with an 060, it should be very smooth).

Valve has tested 'thousands' for the Steam Deck, 60 currently Verified

Quoting: emphyWhat's really needed is not this half-behinded "we think it'll run fine"-label, but a list of games that have a true commitment to *full* support, either by valve or the devs of the game in question.

This is especially important in the case of the games that are running via proton, since those have the biggest potential of valve and the devs pointing to each other when you need something fixed.
Yeah, what I wish had happened more often for the Steam Controller roll out was more developers using the actual Steam API for controllers (which does work with all of the controllers Steam supports... which is to say a lot). Then no matter which controller you're using, the game will display the correct buttons.

One of the few I recall that supported this was Magicka. It was quite nice to have all of the buttons stated correctly. Considering the button layouts are different depending on if you're using an xbox/clone controller, Switch or PS3/4/5 one...

No no, see, that was the Dream Deck. Totally different console, but it's easy to see how they might be confused…

We're living in a weird world with Sony's Shuhei Yoshida excited about a Linux handheld

Quoting: BeamboomI've actually never felt Sony were much against Linux at all. Keep in mind that on their PS3 they even allowed Linux to be installed as "otherOS".

They sold the PS3 with Linux support in order to save on import tax, because it technically can be imported as "home computing device", instead of "gaming console". That's literally the only reason why they did that. Not because they "love Linux" or something.
Well, the PS2 had a Linux kit for it. So there were other reasons.
