Quoting: CorbenNice! I'm using xrdesktop pretty regularly to have certain desktop windows in VR, especially during streams a chat window is must have. Some games use mods to get a chat window shown (Synth Riders, Beat Saber), but xrdesktop makes it so you can use it everywhere.

I hope this will be integrated into SteamVR at some point, as there is already the feature on Windows, that you can have any desktop window shown in VR without 3rd party software. This feature is currently missing on Linux.

You do this to a game @NightdiveStudio is working on and you get offered a job.
Shame that Night Dive cannot release enhance edition of No One Lives Forever due to Warner and Activision's block despite already obtained its source code.
Seriously? That is an awesome game that deserves a re-release, hard to find now.

Quoting: wonkoOnce Proton has full support for RTX and DLSS I won't have to reboot into Windows to play games that use those technologies. I hope we see an increase of Linux gamers after that!
Kind of thought that had started to work?
Was figuring I should start playing Cyberpunk 2077, now that it should be patched a lot...

Valve rolls out big Steam client update with new Downloads Page & Storage Management

Quoting: SchattenspiegelInteresting: with SSD + HDD(raid0) ~ 1 minute
with SSD only ~ 12 seconds
to load the client.
Edit:
And for reasons unknown the loading time stays at 12 second after remounting the HDDs even after rebooting :woot:
Thank you very much! I would never have tried that.
HDD went to sleep and motor powered down? When remounting, the drive would be woken up.
Like it needs to wake up Neo?

Quoting: Guestclosed-source and linux only? these both wont go well together....
Well someone else already mentioned there is another emulator that started that is Windows / Mac only. So why can't we have one that only works in Linux? Imagine if this guy gets it to a state he's happy with, open sources it, and then the other project that is closed source and Windows / Mac only performs way worse. I'd call that a real win for Linux. If it's open source and exclusive to Linux, you only have the Windows / Mac coders to blame at that point.

I'll be trying to remember to keep track of this project, sounds interesting. So would this be like the opposite of the BSD compatibility layer for Linux (taking the mostly BSD based PS4 OS and getting it working under Linux?

Quoting: TheRiddickIt's a shame really that Sony doesn't endorse such projects; it be nice to see a Sony Online store for PC and Linux just like how Microsoft has captured so many people with their Xbox Game Pass for PC deal. Which btw is blocked from running under Linux... walled gardens are just crap imo!
Really? It seems to work on the Atari VCS (which is running Linux). I haven't tested it myself, as I don't own an Xbox. Nor will I ever sign up to any MS service. Not because I'm an open source zealot, just because I hate MS. They're like that psycho we've all dated that just won't go away... :P

This has been sorely needed. I always end up having to go into the gnome disk usage utility to figure out where all my disk has gone... usually it's the giant steam library.
