I just need it to work flawlessly in VR! It gets the 'reprojection' stuff all over the place. With it and No Man's Sky, I probably wouldn't need to boot into Windows anymore. No Man's Sky works perfectly on the pancake display, but in VR it never starts.
Underworld Ascendant for Linux still coming, should be this month

Under Manjaro, install libray-git, and rpcs3-bin. Though rpcs3-bin doesn't pull in the vulkan libraries, so I ended up trying to build rpc3-git, but that build didn't work, but it did pull in the right libs.
But after that, I ripped Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom and played it for many hours last night, performance was great, but not sure if it was the game that is glitchy or what, but there were points where I'd get stuck in something and the camera would freak out.
But ultimately, very playable under Linux. Granted, last time I tried Red Dead Redemption in Linux, it was random whether it'd work or not.

Quoting: CyrilThat one seemed to work. At least under Manjaro. Working on getting the gamepad working.Quoting: slaapliedjeSo I forgot an important step in getting the game to the computer. You have to decrypt it, and while it SAYS the ps3-disc-dumper supports Linux, I don't really see how to compile it, or use it at all.And what about this other tool mentioned?
Plus the appimage of RPCS3 uses an outdated version of OpenSSL so a lot of features don't work. It should upgrade to 1.1.0.

Gonna see what I can use on Linux to copy games.Quoting: slaapliedjeNot necessarily a howto, simply having your detailed feedback.Quoting: Cyrilhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DWFPDJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 [External Link] is the drive I'm using. I'll rip a game tonight and write up a howto.Quoting: slaapliedjeI actually bought one of the listed Blu-ray drives so that I could rip my own PS3 games. It's a long process and I'd only recommend doing it for those PS3 exclusive titles out there. Like I ripped Red Dead Redemption so I could play it on my PC. Then again it was random how it'd load with the version of RPCS3 that I was using, so decided to just fix the laser in my fat PS3 :PIt would be interesting to have your feedback about the process, what softwares did you use, difficulties you encountered etc.
Sadly my Blu-ray drive is apparently not compatible to dumping PS3 discs.
For now I only did one mitigated test with a pirated game but of course I intend to buy a compatible drive and some PS3 discs to dumping them myself in the future.
I'm particularly waiting for this goal/feature "Support booting from original game discs." will be quite useful IMHO.
Yeah, even if that option of booting from an original is there, you'd still need a drive that can read the disks. But it would certainly save the time and hard disk space if you could run it straight from the drive.
Load times might be slower though.
But thanks though! :)
A bit off topic but speaking of dumping games, I tried to do it with my PS1 CDs and it failed (the resulting image didn't run on my emulator). I was thinking of retry that... It seems the majority of tools to do it are on Windows.

Switch has very few exclusives. I have a Switch, but none of the exclusives have really kept my attention. Breath of the Wild was decent, but I'm so used to other open world games, that it was infuriating to me that you can't actually craft items. I stopped playing it a long while ago.
But if you'd noticed what I said, it's going to be the software library that matters. The funny thing is everyone keeps saying that it's nothing more than a raspberry pi that costs too much, and that's not quite true. But yeah if there is no software for it, who cares? Or if there is no software that you can't just run on a cheap Linux box, who cares. Only thing it has going for it above that is probably the size, it still is pretty difficult to build your own PC that is console sized and not have severe heat issues, or bad performance.

Quoting: elmapulPeople who wanted Steam Machines? :PQuoting: slaapliedjeyou forgot that nintendo have exclusive games.Quoting: elmapulthe game is running on linux? you forgot to mention that... some times an emulator isnt running as fast on linux as it is on windows.Spec wise, the Atari VCS isn't far off the PS4 (assuming the specs are legit). Will it compete with the PS4/5? Probably not because Nutari (as some have not so fondly referred to them as) doesn't have oodles of money like Sony does. But the AMD hardware they're using is more powerful than say a Switch is. In fact the Switch isn't all that powerful at all, the only thing that makes it cool is the form factor (portable plus dockable). It's an nVidia Tegra X1, which was released in 2015.
in some cases the linux build dont even compile, sigh.
example:

but you know what would be cool? if we forget stupid projects like atari vcs that dont have any chance to compete against the likes of ps4(and 5), xbox one(and scarlet) and nintendo switch(or whetever they come up after) and instead focus on making sure that linux is the best platform in terms of breaking exclusivity (funding projects like this, more than the windows folks do, making sure we are their priority)
and so does sony.
by the time atari launch their console, sony will anounce ps5 and everybody will save money for it.
i know its not trying to compete with ms,sony and nintendo, but the question is, who gonna buy it? aside from linux fanboys and people who fell nostalgy for atari?

Quoting: PatolaAh, it's been a while, maybe I did install that module. Kind of coming back to me (I haven't had my steering wheel hooked up since I got my new house, and that's been close to two years ago)Quoting: slaapliedjeHuh, it's been a while since I tried it, but could have sworn my G27 just worked with ETS2 out of the box. I recently bought me a proper wheel stand for it, and was going to try it and City Car Driving out in VR. Last time I tried it, I hit a key and it kicked me out of the truck and made me float high above, which made me almost yack!G27 and G29 work perfectly out of the box in ETS2, except for the Force Feedback.

They're great for retro systems though. Weird that your frames would dip that low though, I'd check shadows I think it is. One of the settings in ED just completely kills performance on mine.

Quoting: DuncWhoa, I haven't had a 1280x1024 monitor for ages. Even my last CRTs were 1600x1200@85. Granted I had three of them on a table and it warped the table, but playing Unreal Tournament 2003 on 3 monitors with the Matrox Parhelia was epic!Quoting: slaapliedjeHeh, yeah my testing was being in a station, looking around, leaving the station, and then going back into the station. My system jumped to crazy framerates when I was out in the black.I could understand if that was the case here, but the trouble is that mine jumps between three-figure and single-figure rates in the station.
Curious what your hardware is? I'm running an i9-9900k, 2080 RTX, 32gb of ram. It's in my profile: FX-6300, GTX 960, 8gb. So, not even close to yours, but above the recommended spec. and, as I say, when it works it works well enough. My crummy 1280x1024 monitor probably takes a bit of the load off the system. A friend of mine ran ED for years on basically the same setup under Windows. (In fact, I'm using his old CPU and GPU.)
Ha, bleeding hearts and all, would be great if I didn't have to boot into Windows...Fair point. :)
