PS3 emulator RPCS3 can now play Demon's Souls at 60FPS thanks to a patch

Quoting: slaapliedjeI actually bought one of the listed Blu-ray drives so that I could rip my own PS3 games. It's a long process and I'd only recommend doing it for those PS3 exclusive titles out there. Like I ripped Red Dead Redemption so I could play it on my PC. Then again it was random how it'd load with the version of RPCS3 that I was using, so decided to just fix the laser in my fat PS3 :P
It would be interesting to have your feedback about the process, what softwares did you use, difficulties you encountered etc.
Sadly my Blu-ray drive is apparently not compatible to dumping PS3 discs.

For now I only did one mitigated test with a pirated game but of course I intend to buy a compatible drive and some PS3 discs to dumping them myself in the future.
I'm particularly waiting for this goal/feature "Support booting from original game discs." will be quite useful IMHO.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DWFPDJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 [External Link] is the drive I'm using. I'll rip a game tonight and write up a howto.

Yeah, even if that option of booting from an original is there, you'd still need a drive that can read the disks. But it would certainly save the time and hard disk space if you could run it straight from the drive.

Load times might be slower though.

Quoting: PatolaAny one else would like to tell their experience with logitech wheels on Linux?
I got a G920 today and I'm surprised that it works out of the box in ETS 2, including force feedback. Steam does not detect the wheel as a controller, but so ETS 2 does. Unfortunately, as Steam is not detecting it (maybe some settings are wrong), I had to map everything on my own and could not use a controller profile like with my XBox One controller.

Havn't had the time to test other Games, but I'm really pleased how well it works in ETS 2!
The thing is, the G920's device support is completely different from the one of G27 and G29, and that's why ETS2 works natively with it but has a few hurdles for the G27 and G29 like the needed .so file. ETS2 developers were describing the issue in a steam forum post.
Huh, it's been a while since I tried it, but could have sworn my G27 just worked with ETS2 out of the box. I recently bought me a proper wheel stand for it, and was going to try it and City Car Driving out in VR. Last time I tried it, I hit a key and it kicked me out of the truck and made me float high above, which made me almost yack!

Quoting: slaapliedjeFunny thing on my hardware, at least with the 2d version, it's about 50fps less on Linux than Windows, but that means it's like 190fps vs 240fps. So it isn't like it's noticeable.
Hmm. That figures. The framerate on my hardware isn't great. Or at least, as I've said before, it's extremely unstable, varying from about 130 down to as low as 16 sometimes (for, to be fair, very short periods), for no readily apparent reason. It's not as if it can be related to a lot of scenery or ships on the screen; sometimes, even navigating the Station Services menus is like wading through treacle. It's almost as if the entire game is running slowly, rather than a simple framerate issue. Really strange.

That said, most of the time it's perfectly playable, but I'd rather have a steady 60-ish. In fact, I think I'd be happy with a steady 30.

Sadly that isn't the case in VR, where it gets all funky.
My heart bleeds. :P
Heh, yeah my testing was being in a station, looking around, leaving the station, and then going back into the station. My system jumped to crazy framerates when I was out in the black.

Curious what your hardware is? I'm running an i9-9900k, 2080 RTX, 32gb of ram.

Ha, bleeding hearts and all, would be great if I didn't have to boot into Windows...

Haha!
I always found it the other way around, gnome users talking about how fantastic their featureless (most extensions don't work) desktop is and how KDE is bloatware, meanwhile I moved from GNOME to PLASMA5 the other day and noticed things just work allot better and faster (even games work faster somehow).

Shrug.. Just saying. GNOME SUCKS!
Guess it depends on your use case. Me, I want something that's just there to launch applications, after all, that's what you use, right? You don't use the operating system, it's just there to manage your applications and windows.

For me, Windows, Mac OSX and KDE seem to get more in the way than they need to. I'll say Windows Sucks for stability, privacy, etc. but not going to really say KDE sucks (well macOS I just don't see a need for :P).

Back on topic, this seems like a terrible implementation of just showing an icon and the title, which .desktop already does, why is it executing anything?

Heh. I'm beginning to see why people usually miss out the colon. :D

Hope this helps Skyrim SE.

It already runs fine with Proton 4.11, but I still need to restart game sometimes because it looses sync.
Skyrim VR runs fine as well, I just need to figure out how to get all thee mods from my Windows install into the Linux one. Not sure if I can get Nexus working, etc.

I am hoping they can get enough performance so I can finally play Elite:Dangerous in VR. Windows for me keeps crashing in VR (not just Elite). Would love not to have to reboot to play.

Whoa, is that still maintained? Kind of think it'd be cool to run on top of FreeBSD that I'm planning on putting on an old Macbook.

The really dumb thing is that he could have still gotten good fame if he had just waited a regular time to announce it publicly after informing the KDE developers. Is this just within Dolphin, or a larger part of KDE as a whole? I don't normally use KDE, but was going to play with Project Trident on an old Macbook Pro, to see if I like FreeBSD, and was going to use KDE on it.
