The massive 7 Days to Die update Alpha 17 is live now for everyone

Quoting: scaineYep, it's a real performance hog now. I've pushed a few settings down a notch or two and I'm still lucky to hit 50fps, despite my monster graphics card. Hopefully now that it's stable, they'll focus on that performance issue - A16 was very fast by comparison.

But what a game. The melee is finally satisfying. When you power attack with an Iron Sledge, the zombies will literally fly away from you, ragdolling and tumbling through the air - it's great.

And the skill system is great too. With the latest re-balance the forge is much more achievable. I was pretty disappointed with the bike though - it's not much faster than walking unless you use stamina to speed it up, and when you do, you're lucky to last 30 seconds before it's gone and you're back to walking pace. Hopefully that gets a tweak or two in future.

Great game. Loving it all over again.
Huh, when I played it last (admittedly years ago) it ran quite well. I should try it out on my 2080.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyBut what about all the hardcore children complaining that the frame rate is slower on Linux?!
And the "meeh fortnite" children...

I gave a computer to my 12 years old nephew (not a beast with a 660gtx, but it runs great on mint) who only had a smartphone. Not a single "thank you dear cool uncle !" : just a "meeeh Fortnite"...
Ha, I've never even seen/played Fortnite, but then it seems like something I wouldn't like so meh Fortnite :P

Quoting: slaapliedjeYeah, not sure why Dota was mentioned, since it is native. If you are into MMOs, Star Trek Online I found to be fun (and I don't really like most MMOs.)

Need to try LEGO Super Heroes 2 again to see if the sound effects are still missing. Weird that the voices and music are there, but no sound effects.

Wait Star Trek Online works?[/quote]It's worked in standard Wine for a very long time, that's how I played a lot of it.

Has anyone gotten the combination of SteamVR + Elite Dangerous working under Proton? That is one of the only reasons I keep Windows around.

Quoting: Leeo97oneI really don't think tearing is a driver bug (unless you can prove it). It's most likely due to a misfiguration somewhere. For exemple, you have to enable PRIME Sync [External Link] if you are using an Optimus (Intel+NVIDIA GPU) laptop.
And on desktop, I never had any tearing problem.
I have 144hz gsync monitors, so get irritated when I find a game that goes into full screen mode and doesn't support any vsync, and see redraws.

144hz monitors are still way too pricey...

There's a brand new Steam Play Beta version out with FAudio, also a Steam Play whitelist update

Civ VI should be native and running on ext4 anyhow, right? That's kind of an odd one.

GTA V was weird, because I had to install it on my SSD, otherwise it'd never finish loading. But then it bugged out and kept trying to validate it.. I ended up uninstalling it because I haven't had the time to play it since it came out for PC all that much. I think I tested it with switching between driving with the steering wheel once it came out for the PC and haven't really played it since.

I really should give Civ VI another shot though, been too long since I played a Civ game...
