The latest progress report for the PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 is out, impressive stuff

I guess RetroArch is probably aimed at you, then, but I had a quick look, and it doesn't seem to have a RPCS3 core :/
Yeah, Retroarch is nice. Friend of mine writes a NES emulator and was telling me he was working in his spare time to port it into a core for RetroArch.

I was talking more that one Playstation emulator to cover 1-3 makes sense, since the fatboy PS3 had emulatuon/enhancement software/hardware in it so you could still play your old games. Wish they had continued that in the PS4, but it is mostly a PC with a propietary OS.

Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment have officially joined Microsoft

Quoting: GuestOne thing is not overly clear to me: do they own Neverwinter Nights too ?
Nope, Neverwinter Nights was developed by Bioware / Published by "Atari" and now being done by Beamdog (Enhanced Edition). Obsidian did the 2nd one. Just like they did the 2nd Knights of the Old Repulic.

I feel saddest for Brian Fargo. He started inXile after Interplay went bust so that he could make his own games again. Granted I am sure MS gave him a hefty paycheck, so I don't feel too bad for the guy...

This definitely means no more PS4 ports, whixh is also a shame.

I do not see anything good coming out of this. Seems a large check was passed to these two and the thought of not needing to crowdfund everything was too much of a draw than being able to do what they want to do for the fans.

As far as the delay for BT4, I just tried it on Windows for a tiny bit to show a friend of mine who is a long time fan of the series, and it crashed almost right away. Seems rather unstable even on Windows, hopefully the Linux version is less crash happy.

Quoting: HadBabitsI remember being open mouthed when discussing homelessness with a co-worker who simply said "I'd just get a job until I could afford a place to stay."
A colleague of mine stated homeless people are all romantic clochards preferring the free life...
Both people have zero idea of what bad things can come to people when a job is lost, medical bills are too high to pay, a divorce leaving a man homeless, the mentally ill, and the financially poor.

Show a smidgen of compassion. There, but for the grace of God, go you.
There are all kinds actually. So on the one hand you have (probably the majority) that are homeless because of terrible events, income related most times, or natural disasters, etc.

There are those that will just refuse any sort of help and for whatever reason want to be homeless. Usually they are mentally ill in some way or another, and quite possibly fear what others will do to them or what they will do to others.

But yes it is an unending cycle. Can't get a job because a job requires an address. Can't get a domicile because they can't get a job. And usually if you have reached homelessness it is because no one gives enough of a crap about you to let you crash for a while. It sucks for sure that we as a species are so centered upon our own survival.

I had always thought if I won the lottery I would buy a huge building where homeless people could use it as a place to get hygiene and an address so they could find a job and become not homeless.

Mount & Blade: Warband now has a 64bit beta for Linux, should fix numerous issues

That seems to be the case.

I think I've mentioned my old save that would crash the game about 20 seconds after loading no matter what I did. I haven't had a proper chance to test it thoroughly, but it certainly doesn't do that any more, and the tell-tale graphical glitches that used to be a sign of an impending crash are gone too.

Oh, and the configurator program works now. You can download Steam Workshop mods and actually use them. :woot:
Nice! I hadn't played the game in quite a long tine, that used to work when it was first released. It wasn't until I read a comment before this post that had said it was badly broken. Gonna have to play this more. I founf it really hard, tried playing it with a mod but that made it too easy... needs to be right in the middle.

Conan Exiles kind of reminds me of this game, though it doesn't have the towns and random missions like you get in Mount and Blade.

Out of curiosity, dies rhis single emulator also support PS1/2 games as well, like the fat PS3?

I know there are ps1/2 emulators as well, but I would like one emulatir for all.

But this is great, maybe I can play the first RDR, since my PS3 has issues.

I am shocked they finally fixed the weird input for the pin number entry on family share. That has been there for years.

SteamOS has nothing to do with Ubuntu
They are both Debian based. And SteamOS is based on exactly the same versions UbuntuLTS is based on. I am pretty sure SteamOS is more or less Ubuntu for all intends and purposes... Well it does not have the same desktop theme, i give you that...
Someone else probably already said this, but Ubuntu being based on Debian and SteamOS being based on Debian does not equate to SteamOS being based upon Ubuntu LTS. Steam is currently (if I recall) based on Debian Jessie and is in beta for the Stretch base. There are a LOT of differences between Debian and Ubuntu. Ubuntu tends to compile experimental drivers into their kernel for one.

Ubuntu's procedure is every 6 months they pull a bunch of packages from Debian Testing, build them up and test them for a month of that then release. But because of that, there are certainly a lot more bugs that creep into Ubuntu.

Valve rebasing on Debian was a good move, since it gives them a much more stable platform to develop upon, and they do some kernel tweaks and pull in newer drivers.
I think most of the confusion comes from that SteamOS and the Steam Runtime are two different things. The thing that matters for the games are the runtime and the Steam Runtime is from Ubuntu (the folders are even named ubuntu12_32 and ubuntu12_64 since they where taken from Ubuntu 12.04).
That is a perfectly good point. Ha, makes one wonder if they will or have updated those libraries, since 12.04 has been EoL'd for quite some time.
