It took so long for this game to even comenout for Windows that I had completely forgotten about it. But I think I had bought itbin either early access or had backed it on kickstarter because I loved Carmageddon back in the day. Sad it became such a shit show.

Quoting: SalvatosI love DDG, I actually made the comment the other day to a coworker that my duckduckgo skills were greater than his google ones. Since I could find a particular piece of software that he'd dug around for himself.Quoting: slaapliedjeSo I just found out that you can search "random fortune" on DuckDuckGo [External Link] and it will generate one for you (seriously DDG has some really nice integrated queries like this). I got:OVIVO is a platformer with some rather unusual mechanics, it's also now on LinuxThere is a silly game out there where you read off a fortune cookie and add some random bit at the end like, "in the outhouse" or "in the bedroom" etc.
Now I want to say "is now on Linux"

Quoting: iiariWhoa, an intensity comparison to Rocket League, which is gaming crack cocaine for me... Must try this one too...Every time I see Rocket League mentioned I think it should have been called Ballblazer 4.... Assuming you count Ballblazer, Masterblazer (Amiga / ST), and Ballblazer Champions (PSX). Needs to be modded to have the song...

Hell yeah! The only other sport I can enjoy is Boxing, there totally needs to be more Hockey games. Though I do enjoy playing BasketBrawl on my Lynx too.

Are there any OpenGL games that work in SteamVR under Linux?

Quoting: beniwtvAre you sure? Everything I'd read about it basically inferred that you had to have Vulkan support for it to work correctly. For example, I have Serious Sam VR which works great in Linux. But I also have AliceVR, which loads, but does not display in the actual headset. I had come to the conclusion it was because the SteamVR overlay only routes the output to the HMD under Vulkan, which the Unreal Engine (that Alice VR uses) does not support.Quoting: slaapliedjeI'm fairly certain that SteamVR on Linux requires Vulkan, so doesn't that make their effort on getting VR support useless for Linux? Not at all! SteamVR on Linux can run OpenGL VR games just fine, there are extensions to both OpenGL and Vulkan to share buffers directly. It works quite well, even on AMD. (And improvements still coming as well).
I am personally testing VR with Godot since some time on Linux, making sure it's working :D. Right now there is a bug in the code that makes Godot crash, but hopefully it can get resolved soon.

Quoting: Doc AngeloI'm fairly certain that SteamVR on Linux requires Vulkan, so doesn't that make their effort on getting VR support useless for Linux?Quoting: STiATA bit sad they dropped the idea of supporting Vulkan due to the amount of work involved for "not enough benefit" at the moment. We'll see, maybe that will change in the future.I'm glad they didn't divide their resources to work on that. I doubt that it would be useful for the scope of this engine right now.

Quoting: ElectricPrismOur appraisal of Civ 6 was that the "graphics upgrade" really seemed like a "graphics downgrade" considering that they made everything so toy and blocky looking and took out the grunge look that befits RTS recreating year 0 human civilization.Really? Did they dumb down the graphics?
Anyways, I'm sure the downgrade was strategic so they could launch on iOS and Android more easily costing less GPU resources.
I bought a copy when it was on sale. After the hype train left and we didn't get multiplayer on all platforms It's more of a -- well if we get 1-2 hours of entertainment out of it that's $5.50 an hour.
So if you got a extra 12$ and are looking for something to do, yeah why not.
Plus, I sortof like to buy all the top Linux games even if I don't like them just because it pumps money into the platform and I may change my mind as I play them.
Plus taking a gamble is fun. For example we bought FFXV on Xbox and were extremely skeptical we would enjoy it or that it would live up to the FF name. We paid $25 and are 120 hours in. So that's 20.8 cents per hour of entertainment.

I honestly think the big problem with all of the civilization games since.. 4? is that they aren't selling a complete game anymore. You basically have to wait for the DLCs to fill in the blanks, like spying and religion, etc. Still I tend to buy them, then wait until later, not sure why. But Aspyr should keep porting them over. Would be better if Firaxis did the ports themselves though.
