But yeah Steam looks tiny and weird in Windows 10, but fine under Gnome.

Quoting: musojon74Excellent. It was very annoying when linux 4k meant tiny steam text. Especially when scaling works on windows ( not that I'd know that. Ahem. )Ha, really? I had the opposite experience, it seemed to scale correctly in Linux, but not in Windows. Then again, I've read my laptop has a 'fake' 4k display, though I'm not sure what that means, something about it emulating the pixel density, without actually having that many pixels?

Quoting: DJVikingI wonder if it could be possible to create an AppImage of Quake4 with these modifications. That way you could always get it to run even if your system libraries change. Having classics like Quake4 running years or decades later would be great.Like a flatpak/snap/whatever package this week?

Quoting: ShaolinAbout the Article. Glad to see a nice HOWTO. Thx Jim for OBS and Palakis for the Plugin!Nice! I may have to pick one of those up! When I was last looking all I could find that had Linux support was in the 300-500 range, and didn't want to spend that much on what was going to be the occasional video recording from my Atari Falcon, or other Retro systems. One advantage of the USB based ones is I can connect them to my laptop or Tablet rather than having to connect one of these older systems up to my desktop system (which is now on a different floor!)
Quoting: slaapliedjeSpeaking of this, does anyone have a good example of a capture card with VGA, Composite and HDMI that works under Linux and isn't 200 USD and higher? I bought one and unfortunately it doesn't work under Linux or it would be perfect. Wanted to use it to capture my retro computers, but having to reboot into Windows is discouraging me from using it.Ufff. Just at the limit! for U$199 you can get a Blackmagic Device's Intensity Pro 4k. I use it daily for my production in Arch =D
The whole BMD line up have all the software and drivers for linux.

I already have all of them. But don't have the time to play them! Just learning CKII takes a ton of time.
Magicka is a blast though! Easily one of the most entertaining co-op games I've played.

Developers don't want to lock their players into Windows10 for a good reason.

Quoting: omer666I will admit it has been awhile since I looked, but the only games I saw that used 12 were Microsoft Studio games. Every other game that supportesupported it also had dx11 support.Quoting: Shmerlonce they'll also catch up in hardware (Vega 2 and Navi)That is, if they do. We should not speculate and only base our opinion on real stuff. AMD's record as far as power consumption goes has only just got a lot better with Ryzen CPUs, which doesn't mean they'll be able to get better results on the GPU side. The only thing we've got at the moment is hope.
Concerning Wine compatibility with DirectX 12, I think it's a good thing they've got it sorted as soon as possible. I don't think it will slow DirectX 11 implementation that much, and who knows, DX12 could really be successful sometime in the future. If Wine isn't lagging behind, that's one more argument in favour of Linux.

Quoting: GuestI've always had high hopes for this game. I hope they can pull through and make it work. I think honestly they should drop the story and focus on multiplayer gameplay.Ugh, don't we already have a billion multiplayer games? From what I remember, wasn't this touted as Raven Shield, but futuristic? I love playing through the campaign in co-op mode. If it were multiplayer only, it makes the longevity of the game weak, since people keep moving onto the next best thing and the multiplayer stagnates. Make the campaign fun enough and people will keep coming back.

Quoting: hercDoes anyone know if both this and anniversary uses steam cloud for saves? I'd like to play it on the couch computer, but I'd also need to continue on the desktop computer when the wife wants the TV back.Perfect use for the Steam Link?
Only thing I found about the anniversary edition was this developer post on steam community about the windows version saving to the registry. Sounds weird, but it's a developer... Obviously the linux version has to save it somewhere else though. http://steamcommunity.com/app/355050/discussions/0/613956964602061363/ [External Link]

Quoting: ShmerlAm I missing something? Wayland under nvidia has worked for quite some time. I don't use wayland because they gimped the secondary clipboard, which I use all the time.Quoting: mrdeathjrYeah for wayland most big obstacle is games quantity inertia directly represented in this simple question:As far I know, only some older versions of Unity use X directly. Newer ones should be using SDL. Same goes for other engines and games on Linux which either use SDL or GLFW or the like, to abstract the display server and input specifics.
Wayland runs all games runs in X and have support of games developers ?
http://www.glfw.org [External Link]
So basically they don't need to worry about whether it's X or Wayland.
