They really should (also) make and publish something where the illustrations and art and lore of their first game "Faeria" are the main focus - like an adventure game or even a graphic novel.
There is a little section in their Kickstarter video where you can see a yak pulling a cart - it would be gorgeous to see more of that art in Roguebook or other products. Their art designer team is exceptional.
Take a look at HD images of the cards in Faeria e.g. on this public Google Drive of Abrakam: https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1AswYvEj4g-EW6JQzsPLPuhuxjBJArmG9/1XJuPOQn6h1QkWmQoTL8sDa8QP4lOV9HK/1IjpBwC_G-KoJPSxtkNGNLLjmkI5Bn0Hs?sort=13&direction=a [External Link]

Quoting: scaineWould be useful for a Rimworld expert to chime in with the differences that this game brings. I've got Rimworld, but haven't invested almost any time into it. Looks pretty similar though, both in execution and graphical style.I wouldn't call myself a Rimworld expert (I know glitter world medicine only from hearsay) but the main feature of Rimworld is the "narrator" you choose at the start of the game. She/he generates "random" events (later on mainly catastrophic ones) in a specific way an rythmn. Your colony has to deal with them and overcome them. So your base building and strategy in Rimworld is above all to plan ahead and be prepared specifically for those events which generate the typical and unique Rimworld dramas.
Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

To resume the subject of this thread: I am addicted to Rimworld (native) right now.
It's that
- "Oh, it's 9 pm, let's play some Rimworld ... Moments later: Oh, what, it's 1.30 am, how???" -
kind of game.
It's fascinating how the game creates stories through the things happening to your colony.

Quoting: iiariQuestion to all: My kids both play chess, and chess.com seems fine, but is there a great Linux chess program out there somewhere? On Linux - no matter which distribution - you will find several chess engines in your repository. You need one of those installed and a GUI program to use the engine(s). I like PyChess as my GUI for the Stockfish chess engine, both are probably available in your repository. Stockfish is probably the most powerful chess engine right now.

If a game which is even whitelisted on Valve's Proton list stops working without hope to be fixed soon it sends a strong signal to me: Don't buy multiplayer games which only (might) run via Proton.
Proton is dead for me for multiplayer Windows only games if there isn't an official commitment by the game developer (!) to support their game on Proton.
Even if Valve might be able to fix games that once worked via Proton but stopped working because of updates to the game (new game features, a new game GUI, added multiplayer or just patched bugs etc.) Proton is not a substitute for native Linux games. This incident is a clear example of this sad truth.

Quoting: nepoYou invite friends from your in-game friends list to a lobby. Then a new lobby window starts where you can set up the rules for the tournament. But the details are a little bit foggy for me because the last time I tried out the tournament feature is some months ago. They added new tournament formats though in the last weeks.Quoting: MicromegasThe game client has also a very easy to use tournament feature build in to quickly set up some tournaments with your friends. How does it work...? Sounds pretty interesting! I thought that this would be a new feature in Valve's upcoming "Artifact" - didn't expect this in Faeria?!

And if you want to search for other active players - to play some of the coop missions e.g. - I recommend to join the Faeria Discord channels. You will find a link with a Discord invite inside the game client if you click on the icon to get to your in-game friends list.
And a collection of decks with lots of guides and links to videos can be found on Faeria.com/the-hub.
I also recommend to follow their news section on Faeria.com/news for their weekly updates on every Friday with information about upcomming tournaments (some of them with prizes for winners), infos about possible new features and links to new decks, guides and videos.

Valve's card game Artifact is running very well on Linux, releasing next week

Yes you can play Hearthstone without spending money but it's unfair to compare that very limited play and fun to an experience where you have access to a huge pool of cards with spending some money like in Faeria. But of course for kids to just press some buttons which do funny things on the screen Hearthstone is more affordable.

Quoting: abelthorneThe base game of Faeria plus both available expansions (which give you all the cards) cost less than one preorder package for one Hearthstone expansion which only gives you a fraction of the new cards. Faeria announced that they will slow down with the release of new expansions but 2 new expansions per year for 13,99€ each would be fine with me.Quoting: DamonLinuxPLAnyone one know if is possible to launch this game with OpenGL? Steam req show only Vulkan... but I still hope to see it on my old notebook. Anyone know is opengl is available? From what I've seen elsewhere (Reddit, I think?), it's Vulkan only, no OpenGL option. EDIT: whoops, the message I had seen was based on the system requirements, not someone who actually played the game.
Quoting: 1xokCan you play it with children or is it too complicated for that? The little dragons should please children very well.I'd suggest that you look at HearthStone instead (Windows only but works fine with Wine). From the reports I've seen from pro gamers, Artifact has a really complex gameplay and is more aimed at hardcore card gamers.
Another option would be Faeria, which has a native Linux version and isn't too complex (a bit more than HearthStone but far less than Magic and, obviously, Artifact) but the game isn't f2p anymore and I'm not fond of their new economic model which can cost a lot of money if you want to keep up with the new cards released; though it's not mandatory, there are already a lot of possibilities with the base game.

62 comments. Don't tell me that there isn't interest in native ports anymore with Steam Play available. :)
Valve gave out more details about Artifact, including some public APIs and pre-order is up

Besides the question how much playing competitive decks in Artifact may cost in the end (the good cards probably will ending up costing more on the Steam market, I guess?), the open question for me is: Will Artifact be enjoyable to play?
I watched the Artifact tournament stream with Kripp's (a Twitch streamer) explanations alongside and Dane's "teaching Artifact" stream today. I like games like chess and Faeria and watch MTG Arena streams on Twitch (although I can't play the game myself because it doesn't run on Wine for me) - so Artifact should interest me. But the game just doesn't look to be fun or interesting to play. For Linux I hope the game will be a hit but just a word of warning here: Hedge your expectations. And have a look at Faeria if you think your gaming mind works similar to mine because then you can't go wrong with Faeria.
