Quoting: EMO GANGSTERgame streaming not working nowI hope they fix this! Because my normal mode of playing Steam games is now streaming games from my Linux desktop computer to my several years old Linux netbook (works great for strategy and RPG games) - so I was relieved to read about the "slow performance" option for my netbook.
anyone else having troubles getting the game streaming to work after the client updated I can't play games on the hub system aka stream game to one pc to the other.
It’s a tough time to be an indie developer, with Steam’s new sale event causing wishlist deletions

I guess Valve should have done some usability testing and user experience evaluation beforehand. But for some reason it often gets overlooked although every system, procedure or application that requires users to interact with needs at least some usability testing. :|

He mentions Mageia a few times, e.g. here: https://mobile.twitter.com/Det_Conan_Kudo/status/1142766407047925760 [External Link]
"Just for note, of all the major distributions today, the only one I know of that still makes 32-bit x86 equal priority as 64-bit x86 for releases, update QA, etc. is
@mageia_org
because its user base of 32-bit users is *much* higher than most of the other distributions."
I cite this to emphasize how important the normal desktop user is for Mageia. Let's explain why this is so: Because Mageia is purely made by "normal" desktop users AND have also absolutely no company interests or dependencies lurking in the background: not financially nor technically. And they are luckily big enough to provide good quality assessment. Yes there are lots of Linux distributions from independent people but only a few are not derivates and have enough manpower to do enough QA.
The desktop user is not the real "customer" for the big Linux distributions. I guess this is the core of the problem.

Quoting: riusmaVery interesting discussion, indeed, explaining in detail why maintaing 32bit libs is not easy for those distributions which really care that everything works.Quoting: TobiSGDI think that this discussion on Twitter [External Link] is interesting (imho) on that subject (Neal Gompa is from Fedora). :)Quoting: GuestI can see why they want to remove 32 bit libs because it's a ton of work.But a ton of work for whom? They still get the majority of their packages directly from Debian, throwing a patch on one or the other package and just compile. If Debian still supports newer versions of 32 bit libraries, how much work is there really to be done for canonical?

Interesting twitter replies right now from OpenSUSE Chairman Richard Brown to Pierre-Loup Griffais from Valve, pitching a cooperation between Valve and OpenSUSE.

Quoting: GuestSo, the list of candidate replacements are: Debian, Mint Debian Edition, Manjaro, Endeavour, Mageia and i forgot another one: Suse ? Many will jump ship and the Linux gaming landscape will be fragmented as ever ! :PFragmented? How so? With the Steam runtime the distribution you use doesn't matter as long as your distribution provides a suitable C runtime and graphics driver. And for GOG games you can just install missing libraries via your distribution repository if something is missing. I'm playing so called "Ubuntu compatible" games on Mageia since years now without any problems.

Just a note: The upcoming Mageia 7 distribution will be released as 32bit and 64bit as always.
Mageia is independent from any other distribution or company and is made by a well established community of volunteers (not only one or two enthusiasts). It's made by people who want a reliable Linux desktop so they use those solutions from all Linux "worlds" which work best for the desktop user. It's upgrade cycles are slower than other distributions (around 1.5 years), but stability and usability are great. Ideal distribution for non tech-savvy users.

Just a warning: even after the latest hotfix and now after around 10 days Stellaris is still broken since the new DLC update on many 64bit Linux systems. Here one of many postings regarding this issue on the Steam forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/281990/discussions/0/1638661595040667345/ [External Link]

From the perspective of a Linux gaming historian it would be interesting to know whether "The Elder Scrolls Online" and "Destiny 2" are really running on Debian natively or via Wine. It would be the first Linux game "published" by Bethesda and Activision if I'm not mistaken.
