So... The bulldozer modules are very much alive with another name; instead of modules, now they are called cores...
The FX 8xxx was four cores and eight threads...
And now we have eight cores and sixteen threads with less TDP than the FX8xxx... Good sign! :)
I wonder how many FPU per core we have...

Even when I have a windows 7 machine, I have a license of Crossover that I purchased before that, so I am downloading it right now for testing purposes.

They have exactly the same weak excuse than Feral (I give them 4 of 10 because they are not Devs)...
Shadow Warrior, another game published by Devolver, is the example that Croteam must follow.

Quoting: ShmerlI noticed that Talos Principle is missing on GOG, and then I found this thread [External Link]. Quite disappointing that developers fell into the trap of Steamworks lock-in.And that is why I gave them 9 instead of 10..

Croteam, one of the few Devs with my respect...
And You know me. I don't respect Devs so easily.
I give them 9 of 10 for three reasons:
* Very good game.
* Linux support from the beggining.
* Playable DEMO (like in the old days).

Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not come to Linux at all, more bad news

But that doesn't have any relation with the Linux version, considering that Batman Arkham Knight was a PS4 game.
I suppose that the code used by Feral for to make a Linux port was the original PS4 code, because that is the right way to do it... I guess they don't have the expertise for to work with PS4 code...
But if, instead of using the original PS4 code, they used the windows port one, that was the technical mistake that explain everything else... Very sad..
Back on topic. I don't like to support kickstarter projects for this reason.
Once they have the money, they can run away..

Quoting: MohandevirI know that the Windows version was and is broken...Quoting: Comandante oardoWe should keep in mind that the Windows port of Batman Arkham Knight is aweful at best. Feral probably couldn't bring the game to a decent performance level on Linux.Quoting: camocelticIt's gotten to the point where I've almost stopped caring for announcements of Linux ports from anyone that isn't Feral, Aspyr, or Ethan Lee because it's almost inevitable that the Linux port gets majorly delayed or canceled outright. The Linux port of Batman Arkham Knight was made by Feral... and they, not Warner, cancelled the game.
If you consider the usual performance hit that comes from converting DX to OGL... I would have made de same decision. Not going to blame Feral on this one.
For me it should be treated as the exception that proves the rule...
Edit: In a case like that, I like to refer to the maxim that says :
"Garbage in, garbage out." :)

AMD will be showing off their Zen CPU Architecture and letting people play with it on December 13th

The only APU close to those details is the PS4 APU...
Sadly, the fact that the best APU that AMD made wasn't made for PC, is the evidence that they don't care much about the desktop market.
Off topic: I would like to see motherboards with two or more sockets for the desktop market...
It will be interesting to run the system processes in one processor, the game process in the other processor and physics in other...
I think the PS4 do something like that... And I think that is the way to go for the Steam Machines... Imagine SteamOS optimized for a hardware config like PS4...

Quoting: crt0megaYeah, that's totally understandable. I hope Zen helps to get rid of that fiasco that held me back from upgrading to anything else than a Phenom II in my main machine. I made an exception for my HTPC which got a Piledriver-based APU. At least the ones with less power-consumption are quite suitable for this niche.I can accept an iGPU if the integrated memory controller is 6 channel DDR4 memory; 2 for the CPU part and 4 for the GPU part... Or at least 4 channel DDR4 memory; 2 for the CPU and 2 for the GPU part..

I have a Sempron 140 with the additional core fully functional....
and a Phenom II x2 550 with the two functional additional cores.. 4 cores for the price of 2 :)
I really miss that feature...
The FX 6300 indeed is an FX 8320 with a module that is laser cut.. ¬¬
Even when they have an iGPU, I switched from AMD to Intel because they have low power consumption and a good singlecore performance...
I would like to use AMD again if they get rid of the piledriver tech fiasco.... I want true cores with low power consumption and high IPC per core and combo is only available at Intel... for now.

Quoting: crt0megaExactly that!Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI really miss the old AMD days of CPUs with hidden cores.Do you mean unlocking those disabled cores of AMD Athlon/Phenom X3 CPUs? That's always been a bit like playing Minesweeper xD

I want the return of the old fashion CPUs: A pure CPU only. I don't want to pay for an integrated GPU garbage that I will not use.
I really miss the old AMD days of CPUs with hidden cores.
