That's nice, they named it after me :)

I'm really looking forward to this.

Dogma: Eternal Night, an in-development MMORPG already has Linux builds

Of the three options to purchase do all of them come with game access? Put another way, are they currently in alpha or beta?

After years of waiting, Dragon's Lair is now available on Linux in Beta form
30 Jun 2017 at 11:45 am UTC

Quoting: slaapliedjeI see that both Space Ace and Dragon's Lair is on sale, but sadly Space Ace doesn't show support for Linux. Anyone know if we have to wait another 4 years for it?
They said in the release announcement that all the games would be getting updated to the new engine in the coming weeks.

There are known issues with mouse and keyboard support but the Steam Controller will work.
Steam Controller didn't work well for me at all. Mouse and keyboard work if you edit the prefs file to open the game in a window.

Some thoughts on AereA, the colourful & musical action RPG, a case of how not to make an RPG

I played this at (I think) EGX Rezzed. The thing that annoyed me was that, having picked an apparently ranged class, the only way I could shoot at things was to run towards them - there was no way to stand still and aim. No idea whether or not they changed that (devs at the show said that this was their intended design, so I doubt it), but I'll wait for a big sale before picking it up.

Albion Online's big final beta 'Hector' update has launched, it has issues on Linux
8 Jun 2017 at 6:46 pm UTC

Quoting: michaUnfortunately, a Unity bug is causing these issues
Shroud of the Avatar is suffering from the same issue [External Link]. Works fine if you happen to be using Ubuntu+Unity DE, but not for anyone else.

Quoting: michaDelete /home/liam/.config/unity3d/Sandbox Interactive GmbH/Albion Online Client/prefs before every start (but you'll loose all setting change you made in game)
If you're happy to delete the prefs file then using a command line argument -screen-fullscreen 0 will probably work too (at least it does on Shroud).

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues has another major update for RPG fans

Quoting: nitroflowThis also delivers a story and quests, problem is that only one of the three main quest lines is fully implemented
As of R41 it's now possible to complete both Love and Truth quest lines, however most of the side quests are still missing.

Linux gamers on Arch may want to hold off on updating due to openssl breaking some games (updated)

Fedora has been broken like this for a while. I did manually copy some files to make some games work but mostly it's easier just to restart Steam with the runtime enabled.

About Linux games being delayed: A chat with several game developers and porters

Having Linux support fall behind other platforms is a sad reality that I think Linux users need to be understanding of. If a game is already released on another platform, then I'd have more respect for a developer who gives priority to existing customers over customers they don't yet have - the opposite only suggests that we'll be treated poorly when we are finally supported!
Except in the case of Kickstarters we're all existing customers, so we're already being treated poorly.

Shroud of the Avatar major update, also free to try for a few days

Quoting: GuestHowever, nothing happens when I click the Play button in the launcher. I could not find the game binary in the file system. I found a 6GB file for the game. Many Steam Linux games works out of box, so very stupid way to distribute this game. I removed the demo and play other games.
What should happen is that the game updates are downloaded by bittorrent as zip files, then they are extracted into the installation folder. It sounds like your client got stuck after the zip was downloaded but before it was extracted.

Quoting: GuestI have two quests that I have no idea how to complete (one tells me to get an iron sword from somewhere, but going there and exploring doesn’t produce the expected result, and the other tells me to go to a zone I’m unable to return to).
The iron blade is a random drop, keep killing and looting bandits in the Perennial Trail scenes and eventually you'll get it (Bandit Leaders will drop it most often). There are two quests in the Battle of Solace Bridge which if you don't get the required items (Charlotte and Quincy's Broken Sword) while in the scene you will never be able to complete them, but everything else should be possible to return to.

Quoting: GuestI have no idea if the game has the same concept of groups and instances as WoW.
If you play in 'Friends online' mode then you have to make your party before entering the scene to ensure you end up in the same instance. In multiplayer most of the time everyone will be in the same instance unless we exceed the maximum player count (should be at least 64) or people are on different versions of the client. There are scenes which force 'Solo/Party mode' such as mines and dungeons, for those you should group up before entering.

Quoting: GuestIn WoW you can have 10 characters, which is nice to try different classes, make both male and female characters, etc.
The main argument made against the multiple character slots is that there are no classes as such, you are free to learn whatever skills you want on a single character and switch between them as required. However, I agree, we should be allowed.

Quoting: Tcheymy main concern is the claustrophobic feeling. Way too much loading screens, and way too long.
Fair enough. This is the new starting area they're building for R41 [External Link] that is as large as any of the newer scenes, performance work will continue with every release from now on and there will be another free trial next month if you want to check it out again.
