When I buy from Steam, it's because I know exactly what game I'm looking for because I learned about it from somewhere else. I almost never randomly search the store looking for something to buy, so how the games get to Steam makes no difference to me.

Quoting: EhvisWindows requirement is 12GB hard drive space. Linux requirement is 15GB hard drive space. Not that big of a difference, really.Quoting: Mountain ManIt's not 15 times, but the Linux depots are twice the size of Mac/Windows ones. Which is still a big difference.Quoting: MajGuanoWow, the Linux port chews up about 15x as much disk space as the Windows version.15x? You sure about that?

Honestly, it's hard to beat Leonard Nimoy's narration in Civilization IV.

Quoting: apocalyptechDidn't Civ5/BE have the slowly-dropping-FPS thing as well? I seem to recall that things would get slower the further you are in the campaign (not that it ever got awful, really). That's actually pretty typical of all Civ games. Civ 4 would get downright unstable towards endgame.

Quoting: GrazenSad to read about the poor optimization of the Linux version relative to Windows, and Liam there's no reason to excuse Aspyr for the less than optimal port. We shouldn't have to be happy with ports that don't run as well as under Windows and this seems to run about as well on your i7 980ti as it runs on my i3 860m on Windows 10!As long as ports have to go from DirectX to OpenGL, there's going to be a performance loss, and there's no easy way around it.
XCOM 2 updated by Feral to support Long War 2

The Long War sounds awesome, but I don't know if I'll ever play it simply because vanilla XCOM 2's end-game remains a mythical realm that I may never see with my own eyes. But I still love XCOM 2. I don't think anybody has ever made a game that is so much fun to lose.

Quoting: rea987That's incorrect. It will count as a Windows sale because it's a Windows key. Steam keys are OS specific.Quoting: jordicomaI have probably a "classic question". If I buy the boxed version and install with the steam code on linux. My money will go for the linux or windows version?Your payment will most probably go to the original developer and the publisher since retail versions were already "sold" by the publisher before the Linux version was shipped. But your OS would count as Linux.

Steam keys are per-platform, so a boxed copy of the Windows version will always be counted as a Windows sale even if you install and play exclusively in Linux. The only way to guarantee that it counts as a Linux sale is to buy through Steam for Linux, or buy directly from the developer.

Quoting: KimyrielleI remember one game of Civ V where my two allies goaded me into attacking a common enemy, so I complied. Then my allies suddenly declared that I was warmonger, became former allies, and teamed up to stomp me into the ground.Quoting: BreezeI hear the AI sucks. I guess I will find out. It always bothered me that the higher difficulty levels in Civ V gave bonuses because it just meant that I couldn't win earlier.Yeah, the devs said they'd make the AI less stupid, but from what I've heard, it's anything but. The diplomacy engine still seems to make the same completely dumb "We have been friends for 1000 years? No, we're at WAR now!!!" decisions it made back in Civ I.
